Making Pretzels

Step 1: Mix the Ingredients

The pretzel dough is mixed in a giant mixer!

If you don't follow the ingredients closely, you can get a really bad batch!

Step 2: Cut off a piece of dough

Here, Tommy (2006) is cutting a portion of the giant slab of pretzel dough for rolling.

Step 3: Roll the Pretzels

These two were our primary pretzel-makers of 2007: Dejan & Heriberto.

Heriberto (right) is actually one of our two Anna's Pretzels Assistant Stand Managers of 2007.

Sometimes, you can even give it a little snap to make the perfect shape!

George (2005/2006) & Xiomary (2005/2006) demonstrate such here.

Step 3: Coat it in Egg

Every pretzel gets a coating of egg to give it a shine when cooked.

Here, Anca is doing just that! (2007)

Step 5: Top it off and (Step 6) toss it in the oven!

For some types of pretzels, the egg is followed by another step, like salt, garlic, or mozzarella & pepperoni.

Here, Tommy is preparing a tray of Garlic Pretzels (2006).

Step 6: Serve!

Here, Anca (2007) and Catalina (our other Anna's Stand Assistant Manager of 2007) show off their completed trays of pretzels.

Here is an array of completed pretzels!

Then, you warm them back up on the grill for a hungry person ready to eat one!

Lucia (2007) demonstrates above.

Sometimes, you can even make different shapes, like this Heart Pretzel I made on the last day of operation of 2007!

That was just a quick look at the inside operation of Pretzel-Making!
