Career Reaction and Summary

I did want to be a Food and Beverage Director. But after all my research about my chosen career, I have realized that I might have to change my plans and Here are the reasons why:

A Bachelors degree in Hospitality is only offered in trade schools and online. I wanted to go to the University of Florida, but unfortunately, they don’t offer the program of study that I want. I don’t want to do it online, because i learn more when it is hands on. I also found out, through all the job descriptions that a Food and Beverage Director has to work 24/7 and With having three children , I would never have any time for them. I would love to be a Food and Beverage Director. I enjoy all the actually physical work that the job entails. BUT because i don’t want to relocate my choices in

the gainesville area are very limited.

I would love to have that kind of job, because it has a lot of THE job descriptions under one title. I would not only get to do the paperwork side (which I’m very good at in lieu of my organizational skills.)  I would get to have my hands in the kitchen and the restaurant. I would be able to communicate with the employees and customers WITH some level of respect.  finally,  I would be the boss over almost everyone. This would be a really nice change.

I don’t like that fact, as I had said earlier;THAT  they work 24/7 and every holiday. They HAVE TO be there from 5am-3am; all the while being in charge. It might not just be what I wanted. I need time for my kids, relationship and myself. AND with a job as strenuous AS MY PREVIOUS BOSS; CHRIS rACHID had said “It’s not worth it for the money or the heartbreak it causes on your family.” It’s given me a little more insight on how I feel about the situation. YES, I am so sure they receive great benefits, but when will they actually get to use them. The more people THAT talk to me about this position; the MORE I THINK ABOUT Maybe I nEed to take my career in a new direction. But I still want to be in Hospitality BUSINESS.

This past Thursday, I was at work. The Health inspector came in. AND me being the cook, everything THAT she finds that Is wrong the responsibility will fall on me. Fortunately, since I know what I am doing; we passed!  then it hit me. What If I try something like that. I could be a food and health inspector. I actually approached Julie (that’s her name). AND had asked her what  would IT take to get where she is at. She told me” A college degree and 3-5 years Manager Experience.” I thought to myself, I can definitely do that. That might be my ticket to a happy career and lifestyle. And I would still have people answering to me.  I WOULD HAVE THE OPPORTUNITIES TO FURTHER MY CAREER, HAVE THE BENEFITS AND THE TIME THAT I NEED WITH MY CHILDREN, SO PERHAPS THIS IS THE CAREER PATH THAT I WILL CHOOSE.
