AUSI Open Water Dive Course

Learn how to dive in one of Australia's top dive destinations, the Whitsundays. Anaconda III offers the AUSI Open Water
Dive Course combined with the 3 day/3 night trip (5 days total) so that you can obtain a certification recognized World-wide.
 Learning how to scuba dive should be at the top of everyone's Bucket List and we want to make sure you can do it without
 having to compromise your Whitsundays experience or emptying your pockets. 

This 5 day comprehensive course is conducted in and around the sheltered tropical waters of the beautiful Whitsunday
Islands and Great Barrier Reef

Pool Skills and Classroom Training

The first two days of your training are conducted in our teaching pool and classroom, 2 days prior to the Anaconda III trip.
Here, you will learn the necessary skills and theory to conduct safe diving in open waters, as well as kit assembly and the
physics behind the activity. These 2 days will include theory assessments, 5 pool dives and a swim test
(tread water for 1 minute). 

Open Water Training

Your first open water scuba dive will take place in the sheltered waters of the Whitsundays on board Anaconda III.
This dive site offers calm, shallow and comfortable conditions for first time diving. Once you are comfortable and ready to
go, you will make your way to the Outer Great Barrier Reef where you will complete 4 skill dives in open water
(a requirement to complete the course. Your experienced Dive Instructor will show you each skill and closely
supervise/guide you at all times.

Course Schedule

DAY 1Students meet at the dive center at 9am with passport photos and *Medical Certificate. Here, you are introduced to your instructor. Day 1 consists of 3 theory sessions (with instruction) and 3 pool sessions. You will need to bring your own lunch, or you can purchase from the local shop. 
DAY 2By this stage, you will be assembling your own gear. You will complete another 2 theory sessions and 2 pool sessions. You will need to bring your own lunch, or you can purchase from the local shop. At the end of day 2, you'll sit through an exam to gauge your level of competency. At 6pm, you will board Anaconda III for a 3 day/3 night liveaboard sailing cruise in the Whitsundays, where you will complete your 4 open water dives. 
DAY 3Wake up early to begin your open water training sessions on the Great Barrier Reef and Island Fringing Reefs of the tropical Whitsundays. 
DAY 4Today, you will complete your open water training sessions. It's not all theory and skills training during the cruise though! You will also have time to relax and enjoy what this idyllic destination has to offer. Dig your toes into silica sands at Whitehaven Beach, take in the breath-taking scenery of the 74 islands and of course, submerse yourself with an abundance of marine life and colourful corals during your training scuba dives. Once you are certified, you can undertake a night dive with a guide if you so desire (additional cost applies). 
DAY 5The final day offers you time to relax and take part in your new found scuba skills with friends you've made along the way. Upon returning to Abel Point Marina, the crew will let you know about the after party held at one of Airlie's favourite pubs. This evening is a chance to celebrate your accomplishment with the crew and fellow passengers. The following morning, you will be issues your World-recognized certification card. Congratulations!

*A requirement for completing your AUSI Open Water Dive Course is a Medical Dive Certificate. We suggest booking an
appointment with a doctor prior to the commencement of your course. In Airlie Beach, you can obtain this certificate from
The Doctors for roughly $60.
