I am one of those people who love to throw parties. Birthdays, anniversaries or just about any occasion is an excuse to get some friends together and have a bash.

But I've learned that one key ingredient to throwing a successful party is setting the mood. You need the perfect decorations, the right mix of music and the appropriate food and beverages. You also need the perfect part invitation.

Invitations are an often over-looked part of the party experience. In the age of Facebook, Twitter and email, it's easy just to send a note to everyone you know. The problem is that the people receiving the message know you didn't spend any time on the invitation. Since you didn't care to spend time on it, they aren't going to prioritize it either. Your party invitation is likely to be filed in some folder, ignored and even forgotten.

That's why having a physical invitation is so important. Sure, it's a bit more work but I can tell you from personal experience that when I send out printed invitations even the people who can't come call me to thank me for the note. There is something about receiving a printed invitation that just seems lush, thoughtful and memorable.

One way to make that printed invitation stand out is by using quality paper. There are literally hundreds of options available, from the weight and thickness of the paper to its color. You can use the invitation paper to help set the mood for the party. Bright, vibrant colors are perfect for the casual party, reds and greens just scream holiday and off-whites are an ideal choice for the more formal get together.

Think of the paper as a canvas. Buy the correct paper and you can use it as the base to build your one-of-a-kind invitation on. It's the ideal way to make sure your party will be successful and remembered.
