Offense Is Where The Points Are

For a 2013 fantasy football game, there are some offensive players that you want to start every single week, no matter what. Calvin Johnson, for example, should always get good numbers. He's the best in the game. No matter who he is playing against, you have to play him because the odds are in his favor. With a defense, though, the strategy should be different. You could have a top defense like Pittsburgh, but what if they go up against Denver or New Orleans? They are going to have a bad game since the sport favors offense.

One of the best tactics for 2013 fantasy football is just to pick up the best available defense every week. Draft your defense dead last and then change it out based on the matchup. For example, when the Lions went 0-16 a few years ago, people started picking up whichever defense was going to play the Lions. It did not matter where that team ranked. They just knew that the Lions were so bad that they would make any defense look good. The Lions are better now, but you can do the same thing with teams like the Jets, the Jaguars or the Raiders.

You can also play the injury game with 2013 fantasy football. Look for defenses that are playing teams with star players on the bench because of injuries. If Adrian Peterson goes down, for instance, it is going to make a huge difference for the Vikings. He is about half of their offense all by himself. Playing the defense that is going against the Vikings is a good idea. This is especially true the first week or two after the injury, when the team is still going to be adjusting to this new style of play without their main star.

This season should be a good one, as there are several players making a comeback after a serious injury. Perhaps the most intriguing player making a comeback will be Robert Griffin. He had a great rookie season for the Washington Redskins, and he will have to show that he is fully healthy from a serious knee injury that he suffered from late last season. If he can return back to form, he will have quite a bit of success and then move on at the top of the charts when it comes to fantasy football at the end of the day.
