Nara's father, Darthan, is a retired mercenary, while her mother, in her younger years, picked pockets and locks to survive. Born in the village of Serenity, Nara was taught how to pick pockets, open locks by Kiela in hopes that she would follow in her mother's footsteps, however, her interests, lay in her father's old field of fighting. She would sit at her father's knee and avidly listen to the tales of his adventures in the wars and at 3 years old, was seen trying to wield a dagger as a sword. Considering that his daughter would injure herself unless she was trained, Darthan had a wooden sword made up for her and began teaching her his old trade.

Nara's two eldest brothers, Rogan and Tyrian, ended up becoming horse breeders like their father, while Fulcan married into a farming family and took to farming like a fish to water. Both Jalla and Liana became merchants wives, and mothers of children of their own. Nara's youngest brother, Aven, has been in and out of trouble since his youth. Nara picked up her father's skills rapidly, perhaps because of starting at such a tender age. She was constantly fascinated with every aspect of the life of a mercenary and seeing how quick she was at picking things up, Darthan sent her to be trained in the arts of leadership, as well as to learn the speech and manners of her betters, something she would need if she should advance in a mercenary group to a leadership position.

At the age of 16, Nara was given her first set of armor, her father's old sword and one of the family's horses and a reference into her father's old mercenary company in the guild. Although she visits her family from time to time, she has not once looked back and regretted her decision to follow the field that she has.
