For text manipulation I have used many programs including Abiword, LibreOffice, Microsoft Office, as well as Blender 3d.
For picture manipulation I have utilized such programs as Blender 3d, Microsoft Paint, XnView, also Fotografix.
For sound manipulation basic applications like SoX, Sweep, Microsoft Sound Recorder, WinFF, and Audio Extractor.
One of my personal favorites movie editing - Microsoft Movie Maker, Auto Movie Creator, VirtualDub, Avidemux, & many many others.
