Best Quadcopters For Those Who Are Just Starting Out

Regardless of whether you are a green horned newbie to the world of multi-rotor aircraft, or you're a seasoned hobbyist looking to hone your piloting skills, quad copters can be real fun to fly.

There are so many scores of models available to choose from. Which is why buying a new quad copter can sometimes be a frustrating task. On this page, we have listed some of the most popular drones that are just right for beginners.

Now, though there are five quad copters mentioned in this list, it should not be taken for a top five list. It is not. In fact, it would be extremely hard to compile a top five list of quad copters because there are so many variables involved. A lot depends on your skill level, you were seriousness, and your budget. In addition, quad copters vary a lot in pricing size and specs. So it would be very hard indeed for anyone to say which are the best five quad copters or which is the best court copter available on the market right now. That would simply be not possible. Instead, these are very good quad copters and would be very suitable for someone who is just starting out with the hobby.

1. Blade Nano QX

This one is certainly very small, but that does not mean it lacks features or that it is not good. This is a really tiny drone is great fun to fly. While this is designed to be flown within your apartment, you can fly it out ourselves as well - but make sure you fly it in really calm weather with no wind whatsoever.

While some people seem to believe that flying quad copters within your apartment would be really easy, that simply is not true. In fact, flying at drone within the confines of your apartment can sometimes be extremely hard. There are just too many obstacles at drone can bump into when it is flying indoors. Which is why the blade QX 90 comes with propeller guards. These propeller guards protect the propellers in case of a crash and can prevent damage to the motors as well. This one comes with two flight modes - a agility and stability.

The stability mode is particularly good for beginners. And once you are very comfortably flying the drone in the stability mode, you can switch to the agility mode. This mode will let you learn aerobatics.

2. Hubsan X4

This is another really, really tiny drone. What is really special about this one is that it has a six axis gyroscope which makes this extremely stable. You also have the option of adjusting the control sensitivity. Initially, set the control sensitivity very low so that the drone will be extremely stable and you will be able to learn the basic controls. But once you have mastered the basic controls and are confident of trying out aerobatics, you can turn the sensitivity up and learn how to perform stunts.

The Hubsan X4 is meant to be flown indoors. This is a really tiny court copter and you would not want to try flying this outside your apartment.

There's also a version of this that comes with the FPV camera. But unless you're well versed with flying the starter model, you would not want to try flying that one.

3.  JJRC H8C

The JJRC H8C is a mini quad copter and so is quite a bit bigger than the previous two nano quadcopters. What is really special about this model is that its motors generate an enormous amount of trust - almost 2 times that generated by the motors of other quad copter is in its class. So this model is particularly well-suited for aerobatics. At full power, this one is extremely a giant and it can do a variety of stunts . But all of this power does come at a cost. It reduces the flying time severely and also can shorten the life of the motors. To avoid damaging the motors, you would want to reduce the sensitivity - but then this can also reduce the aerobatic performance. If you're really serious about aerobatics, you would want to have at least two sets of spare motors on hand.

4. UDI U841

The UDI U841 has the most distinctive propeller guards of all quad copters on the market today. The propeller guards also double up as wheels. Which essentially means that you can try this around like a RC car or even have it climb up walls. Maybe that's one reason why this little quad is so very popular. Even though this is relatively small in size, it has very powerful motors. It even has a six axis gyroscope and a 0.3 megapixel camera. And given it's very inexpensive as well, it's no wonder that this quad copter is rapidly becoming extremely popular.

But powerful motors always have one drawback - the batteries do not last very long in flight. You will always want to have spare set of batteries and a spare set of motors as well.

Now, though there are four quad copters mentioned in this list, it should not be taken for a top five list.
