1986 Monte Carlo SS

This webpage has nothing to do with Viper but has alot to do with my personality and dreams. Wayyyyyyyyy back in 1986, I was walking through a car lot here in Tennessee and seen a 1985 Monte Carlo SS with a 454 ci engine and thought WOW. The classic lines of the 1983 to 1988 Monte Carlo SS and its beautiful stance just made me want one. Well here it is almost 20 years later and I FINALLY fullfilled that dream. I purchased this car at the beginning of Feburary. This page will be a way for me to track what I am doing as time goes on. I will add updated pictures and maybe others will find time to make a comment or two as to what I am doing.

Although this is a 1986 SS and not that EXACT 1985 car, and it may only have the baby 305HO ci engine, that will be changed soon enough. This car drives and handles like a dream with the F41 suspension package. I have already replaced the lower ball joints, idler arm, center link, Sway bar link kit and 1 outer tie rod end. Its paint is not the best but that too will change soon enough.

 The dark blue will be replaced with a Dark Grey metallic with a better stripe package from another classic car, the 70-72 Chevelle Super Sport. I will be adding a 2" functional steel cowl hood and and air cleaner along with a power plant change to a streetable 350ci engine producing around 330 hp. This will be backed up with a nice street Transmission, hopefully a 400 turbo. The rearend will remain the same as it has a good 3.73 posi unit in place already.

The Grey interior is very sweet. I only have 2 very small areas that are cracked on the dash, very unusal for these cars. The dash coverings are not the best on these cars and crack easily.

 The drivers seat has the usual tear in the side from the wear and tear of getting in and out. I have placed a set of Seat covers and matching floor mats that my daughter picked out, Black covers with a white, silver, and grey Dragon (one of my favorite mythical creatures) on each cover and mat. I need to replace the headliner and have a maplight/domelight combo already on its way now. I will be adding a CD player and good speakers soon also.
