Rens & Dolphins - December 29, 2003

- Christmas has come and passed yet again for another year, and now I'm gearing up my liver for an alcohol attack on New Years Eve :) I didn't get any cool things this year, except for the Animatrix, Daredevil and Fightclub DVD's, oh and a couple of books, but no toys or anything... I'll be in the city soonish so I'll go hunting for a post christmas prezzie then... I did get myself that sabrefang a couple of weeks ago though... oh well :)

- I found a few pictures of miniature Star Wars vechiles. Mini because they are for war gaming. They look pretty good for their size, but when it came to downloading, only the snowspeeder worked, which was a bit of a dissapointment. I would have like to get the speeder bike or the sand barge thing. You can check them out here for all your paper starwars war gamming.

- That Shunpop guy [Shunichi Makino] has finished his original robot design which is called Rens Head? Shouldn't it be called Lens Head or Head Lens? But I suppose the japanese language doesn't have L's and instead are replaced by R's. Hence the Rens not the Lens. ANNYYWAAAAYY... You can download the entire thing for free from his new site [I wonder if it replaced his old one?], plus there is an optional gun arm, but he wants ¥500 for it [which is about $6-7AUS]. There isn't a picture of the gun arm yet so yeah... thats a bit stupid.... You can find the link and everything in the mecha other section.

- Dolphin Blue? Some new PS2 game which looks a bit like Contra/Metal Slug. The game's website has a a couple of the models from the game, including a submarine, battleship and a few tanks with various colour schemes. The 'Iso-Gawara' Battleship looks pretty cool and reminds me of the Yamato ship... you can find them in my other game section with their details.

- I also found a couple of models of the Playstation 2 console. One in its upright position and another in its horizontal position. You can find it in my other real section.

- What do we all need at this joyous time of year? Blood, guns and bullet time dodging action of course!! What am I talking about? Max Payne... because of my dated computer I never got to play the PC version [except for once when I played it on my friends PC]... Anyway, there is a Gameboy Advance version out! I was a little sceptic in thinking how the GBA can pull it off... but I was pleasantly surprised. I've played the recent James Bond game which was crap, but this is soooo much better. I'll rave about it more in the games section.

- Like I said last time... I went looking for a picture of that manga spiderman figurine, and I found it... I'll have to have a closer look at it next time in the shops and see how much articulation he has, but its still looks good all the same... see here for the 'toybiz' "6inch ACTION FIGURE ASST 5 - MANGA SPIDER-MAN with Wall-Crawling Action".

ARRGGG me hearties! - December 22, 2003

- Nothing major happening this week... with all the christmas stuff happening it doesn't surprise me. Speaking of christmas... while walking down the toys aisle, I glanced across the many Batman, LotR and MARVEL figurines and I stopped there. Why? Well I saw a figurine of one of my favourite Spiderman's. Its the manga spiderman from a short series called "The Legend of the Spider Clan"!! I got excited and wanted to grab this and add it to my collection, but I had no money on me at the time... I'll buy it after christmas, when the all the parents have calmed down and returned to Dr Jekyll. Eeeek! Anyway I'll see if I can find a pic of the figurine, but in the meantime I'll just show you what the comic looks like...

Click on the Led Heavy logo, to see some more of the artists (Skott Young) spiderclan work plus a heap of other comic artwork. Awsome shite...

- Back to the papermodels... I found a little site that has a couple of models that are pretty cool. There are a couple of pokemon models, but the Pikachu has a hole in his head!? Bad design there... but the Charizard is pretty cool, as is Doreamon and the Pirate ship. When I first saw this pirate ship I immediately thought of the One Piece pirate ship, but then after a glance at my manga I was corrected. Its still cool though. I've realised that my other section has been getting rather full... so I've divided my other section up into two types. The first is the original Other section, which has "other" types of models and second is the new section called OtherBOX, which contains the boxhead/hakoclone style models. The pirate/charizard/doraemon are found in the Other section.

Y-SYstem, Cardboard Robots and MedamaOyaji!- December 19, 2003

- I don't know if these Y-system robots are new or not, but I've never seen them before. They are transforming paper robots, much like that VoltesV robot that I posted ages ago. Once again I couldn't see any download links as the site was in japanese, but maybe someone else could help. I think you can buy them though. You can find the pics and the links in my wanted mecha section.

- I little while ago I found a pic of a robot made out of a carboard box... well I found a heap of em. They have good articulation too... I have a stack of cardboard from my new 80cm tv, so I'm going to see if I can ask for the plans to build the robot, or just the poseable hand! Once again look in my wanted mecha section for more.

- MedamaOyaji? This little marvel of lego robotics is pretty cool. It doesn't have all the gizmos that the Lego Mindstorms robotics can offer, instead it is simply just a motor and clever cog work. Plus its really small too, being not much larger than the Lego motor itself. You can buy the instructions and stuff to build one of these things, or you can build a paper version! I don't have a picture of the paper version, so construction might be a bit of a puzzle, but hopefully its all good. You can find it in my mecha other section.

- I posted a picture of this robot alien thing from the movie 'The Day the Earth Stood Still' awhile ago [way back in august] and now i've finally found the model. It comes with his spaceship thing, but I'm not really interested in building a giant flattened cone. Its kind small on the plans, but maybe you could extract it in photoshop or something. Its in my mecha other section.

- Finally that Aliens Dropship thing from the movie "Aliens" is available to download. There are 3 versions of it too so you have a little bit of a decision to make... or just build all 3! :) Its in my other section.

- A few small notes about a couple of things... that Shunpop guy has a new pic of his 'Advanced Situation' spaceship and if you click on the robot that is down the right side of his main page [it looks like one of those repair droid things that worked on the pod racers from starwars episode 1], you'll get a pic of it half constructed. Bookmark shunpops site and be sure to visit it regularly. I also posted a couple of ingram pics in the toy other section.

'Zenith', Scooters and a Zabre Fang.- December 6, 2003

- It didn't take long for someone to find that Zenith model... so HOORAY! to them! It was on the site somewhere, but I couldn't read the japanese so I was a little lost. Anyhoo, enough of me blabbing... get downloading! You'll find it in my mecha game section.

- I stumbled across these 'scooter' models, while doing a random "papercraft" search on one of the many search engines. Vechiles don't usually find there way onto my site, unless they originate from some anime series or movie or something like that... but then again I do have that kick-arse Yamaha YZF R-1 posted. Oh well, make this another exception... why you ask? Well by the look of the pictures, it folds up! and thats cool in my books. Anything movable/transformable made out of paper would probably get my interest. Anyway, there are 2 versions of this scooter thing... you'll find it in my other real section.

- How hard is it to find a Gunsniper! My local shops didn't have a single one! They had plenty of Sabre Fangs, Liger's and those stupid Mulga things or what ever they are... I remember when the Zoid kits hit the shelves you couldn't get enough of them! Anyhoo, I wasn't going to buy a Zabre Fang, instead I was going to get myself a Liger Zero/Blade Liger, but they were like $40AUS, and as I don't have a solid job at the momment I wasn't prepaired to sacrifice 40 of me pennies... so I saw the Zabre Fang for $23AUS and I bought it... What do I think of it? Well it's damn cool thats what! It walks and its jaw moves up and down and stuff! After like an hour of watching it walk across many terrains [it had a little trouble on really fluffy carpet], I paused the legs in their best position and put it on display alongside my collection of paper mechs. Anyway, my eye is still looking for that gunsniper...

This is the holotech version... I have the plain yellow one.

- Once again I've added a couple more GaoGaiGar toys to my toy section. Can't get enought of this thing! Speaking of GGG, I've been heaps busy the past week so I haven't had the chance to build anymore of my scratch build attempt of this awsome robot. Don't worry though, i'll try get it completed. I'll let you know if there is any progress, but you can look at what I've done so far in my projects section.

FRONT MISSION 4, Aibo and more Zoidness!!! - December 1, 2003

- I first played the first Front Mission game on the SNES about 2 years ago [yeah I know, I'm a little late]. I got hold of another of the SNES games: Front Mission - Gun Hazard, although it was in japanese... so I couldn't play it much. I've only been exposed to a very small portion of the Front Mission games as there are a handfull available on the Playstation/PS2. Now there is the latest installment: Front Mission 4. I don't know the story or anything, but I'm not here to talk about the game... I haven't read/heard much about this site and I don't know why because its a good source [even though there are no downloads]. I've mentioned this site many times before, and I'll mention it again... http://chokipeta.jp/ Not only it does this site show those cool pokemon models, but it also has other goodies aswell, and this time is the Zenith mecha from the new Front Mission 4 game. I looked for a download for the model, but I couldn't find any... maybe someone who can read japanese could help. You'll find the pictures of it in my wanted section, where you'll also find the site link.

- AIBO!!! Well not the Aibo us westerners are most used to seeing, but its still Aibo. I found this at the site that has that Mighty Atom model. I don't know if its poseable or not, but yeah its pretty damn cool. Browse down the list on the left to see a heap of pretty cool models... the clothing ones are particularly good.

- More Zoids? Yeah more zoids... mostly special versions of the Liger Zero, but yeah I've added a couple more to my toy section.

- When I saw this my jaw dropped... it was a model of the Terminator skeleton. I'd hate to build this... all those curves and cylinders! AKK! See it here and in my wanted section.

***November***

Nothing much besides my shopping list for Christmas!! - November 28, 2003

- I don't think I have any new papermodels to add this week... a bummer really... The might be a stargate model out soon, maybe...

- The past week I've been gathering references of the really cool GaoGaiGar robot. I'm considering a scratch build of it... transformable thats another question, but yeah I'm giving it some serious thought, drawing up sketches and seeing if I could pull it off. Building paper models are like magic tricks: you need to think it through, practic it a few times and then see if you can pull it off. I've only found a stack of pictures of that kick ass transforming toy of it... which have served me alright, but I'd like to have the 3 views of it so proportions and stuff can be somewhat accurate. How detailed, the quality and how big it will be I cannot say. I also can't say when it will be released, if ever. I've been gradually building a model of it in Maya from the ground up [literally], so for more information about what I'm planning and to see what I've built so far check my projects section. I've also added couple of new cool GGG pics and have added them to my toy section. The image below shows 2 GGG mecha [there's another one which has the lion guy with that stealth bomber, 2 drills and a bullet train]. The site which had this image had sliced up the image so I had to reconstruct it and I missed 2-3 of the slices on the second image :(

I've started building the GGG Final one [the one on the right]... It looks a little easyier to build than the lion one :)

- So whats this christmas list of mine? Well the WHOLE toy section is classified as my christmas list!! hehe but to be more realistic, I've found a couple of images of the different armoured liger's which I must get my hands on... First of all a Liger Zero X then probably the Panzer armour. I just recently saw the episode of Zoids where Bit goes up against Vega in his Beserk Fury, & Panzer uses that humungus all out assault on the falling judge ship. Look at all those missiles.... AWWWWSOME!! Anyway... I haven't managed to find the different armour upgrades anywhere in the main chain stores in Sydney. I think I might have to settle for a Liger Zero X... or maybe a Berserk Fury?... Also a couple of other little guys like Black Ox from the Getter stuff and some cool looking Megaman toys... See me toy section, where you'll find my realistic christmas list.

- So apart from being no new paper models this week, what is there? Well a stack of new GBA games that's what! James Bond: Everything or Nothing, Medal of Honor: Infiltrator, T3: Rise of the Machines and StarWars: Flight of the Falcon. I've only played Medal of Honor out of the lot of them and its a pretty cool game... see more info in the games section.

Arrow, more Stickfas & GaoGaiGar fever - November 17, 2003

- I got a message from a fellow modeller saying he had just finished building the Destroid Monster, and he has a heap of pictures showing his construction. Anyway he has also taken up model building himself and he has made the 'Arrow' ship from Wing Commander 3. Because he let me know about his model I'm happy to post it on my site :) Find it in my video games section.

- I found this site which is all about actual robots [asimo, hrp etc] and there is a model of a robot whose feet are sticking out sideways and has rotating arm and leg joints. The site is worth looking at, even though its in japanese... its good to see what those crazy japanese robotics people have been up to. The model is in the mecha section.

- I went looking around for what other versions of stickfas there are out or going to be out and I found a few that are a must have. You can find them in my toy section.

- I can't remember what got me on to this, but yeah I've gone on a GaoGaiGar frenzy... Theres that Voltron style transformation thing to it that has gotten me interested in this weird but cool looking mecha. I have a stack of pictures of this cool toy, plus a heap of pictures of another mecha, similar to the GaoGaiGar guy but with a different name... I'll have to look it up again... Anyway have a look in the toy section.

Pepakura, Nautilus, mini VF-1S & Stickfas! - November 17, 2003

- When I first looked at the models at the pepakura site, none of the models really caught my eye. However with a recent revisit, I had changed my mind. There are about 4 models that are worth your while. The first being Noface from that awsome anime - Spirited Away, the second being that Titan 08 model which I have mentioned once before, the third being that rocket which looks like its from Wallace & Gromit: A Grand Day Out [also mentioned before], and finally a squished up [chibi style] jet. I haven't posted up the jet on my site, but you'll be sure to find it in the pepakura gallary. Noface and the W&G rocket is in my other section and Titan08 is in my mecha section.

- A couple of weeks ago I went and saw "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" and got meself a look at Captain Nemo's revamped Nautilus... pretty damn cool... anyway I found the model of the original Nautilus which includes that giant squid! I'd build it just for the giant squid :) Find it in my other section. Also at the same site, I found a model of Robbie the Robot... I think thats what his name is... Its what i remember him being called... anyway yeah that "Danger Will Robinson!!" robot from 'Lost in Space'. It'll be in my mecha section. On this site there is a heap of space related models... plus that chic with that spikey ball from Kill Bill...

- I have a job interview on Monday at a printing company and they deal in making boxes and stuff, so to show my cutting/gluing skills I wanted to show some of the models that I have built. So I managed to borrow the digital camera from my Dad's work. To make this story a little shorter... Something went wrong with the camera or something... a little red light started flashing or something [oops]... anyway, I took photos of all the models that I built, but for some reason I lost half of them... I think I buggered up the internal memory or something... anyway, after all that I don't have pictures of any of my models to show at my interview :( I do however have some of the pictures of the other not so important stuff. One being that Gun Sniper/Genosaur Bionicle thing I created and the other being my miniature VF-1S veritech fighter!!! I never ended up making that 3D model to show yall, but this is even better! Find more info in my projects section.

- I don't know if we'll find out what that shunpop guy was building... he's updated his 'advanced situation' page with drawings/designs of some of the models that he can't manage to build... one of them being the most wanted battloid mode of the VF-1S [sob sob].

- In the past few weeks some of the most anticipated GBA games have been released and I'm still playing the first one. 'Fire Emblem' is still being played in number 1 slot, closely followed by the new mario bros game 'Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga', then 'Sword of Mana' and finally 'Beyblade VForce'. Find my reviews of most of these games in my games section. I hope no more good GBA games come out for a couple of weeks... I have a bit of gaming to catch up on.

- You may have seen those Stickfa figurines in my toy section... well I bought one today! I wanted to get the robot or samurai but I don't think we have them out here yet... all they had was the alpha & omega male guy, the knight & horse and the biker... I didn't have much money on me, so I couldn't get the knight, so for $13AUS I settled for the omega male guy. Mine has like heavy weapons [like a rocket launcher, flamethrower, mortar etc]. Next time I'm in town I'll look out for the samurai or the robot guy and I'll bring a little extra cash. I wrote a little bit more about the actual thing in the toy section.

Nerfect robot and Overman - November 12, 2003

- Nerfect? What is this nerfect? Well its some website... or the name of some guy... Owen Nerfect? Anyway... this guy was inspired by that site which has a stack load of box robots which I call the 'old school robots'. Anyway... you can download his incarnation of it... find him in the mecha section for the details.

- Went for another web crawl the other day and I managed to find a couple of book's [which I haven't seen before]. The first, 'Captain Harlock Arcadia Real Paper Craft' I think is much like that huge Yamato ship and the other one, 'Overman King Gainer Exodus Guide' I haven't a clue. I couldn't find a picture of the actual model [see image below], but it by reading the book contents, its supposed to have a "9 inch tall papercraft Overman model"... from a series called 'Overman King Gainer', made by Gundam and Aura Battler Dunbine creator Yoshiyuki Tomino... its news to me :) I'll continue to do some research on this Overman... in the meantime look in my wanted section for a squiz at the books.

- Dunno if this is new or not, but I revisted the Sonic Chao site, and found a rocking horse.

- There's probably going to be a delay with the Fuchikoma model. Just one version [the red one] is 24mb, so the transfer of this awsome robot will probably take some time or if at all :(

Is this Overman?

Maser and birthday fallout - November 9, 2003

- If you haven't already seen/heard elsewhere, that shunpop guy has finished his Maser Tank model [which I think is from the Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla]. You'll find the info on it plus the link in my other section... While still on the subject of shunpops work, he has a puzzling image of basically a rectangular prism in his 'work in progress' page... It has puzzled a few people, with them trying to guess what its going to be... Someone suggested it looks definately like the 'Gamilon Tri-Deck Carrier' from the Shapeship Yamato series... I don't know how this guy can see this from this one picture... see for yourself:

Now I don't know about you, but shunpops piece of paper looks more like the body of some Star Trek ship... Its a weird mystery... I used babelfish to translate the japanese below the picture and this is what it made it out to be: "It tried uniting the plan of yesterday, but it is harsh sure enough, is." This isn't english in my books, so yeah I'm anxious to see what this turns out to be.

- For something completly off topic... Squirrel Fishing... its the most hilarious sport invented, but if you don't know what I'm talking about then look here.

- Back on topic again, kind of... Fire Emblem, the latest game for the GBA that I have managed to get my hands on... I saw in game footage of it when I downloaded one of the video's from this years/last years E3 expo. Last week or so it was released and i've completed the first chapter of play... and damn its cool. The animations and character designs are awsome and yeah its a must play. See a sneak peak and mini review in my games section.

- Also a trailer has been released for the upcoming new Ghost in the Shell movie? called 'Innocence'. It looks pretty cool... trailers a bit short, but then again its just a trailer... go here to download a copy.

- Oh well another yeah has flown on by... damn a year goes fast... Anyway... Birthday prezzies! I got a new green shirt! Raymond E Feist's latest installment to the Conclave of the Shadows saga: King of Foxes, Ronin on DVD [awsome movie], The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner by Ben Folds Five... Its somewhat old but its the only one I haven't got yet, and I'm listening to it while I'm typing this and its pretty cool... oh and little gift from myself... the Lego Bionicle Rahkshi, Lerahk. This thing is awsome... [see picture below]... I've bought one of the Bionicle things last year... it was one of those Bohrok? things... Pahrak it was called. I loved that one and now that I have another bionicle figure with more moveable parts I can make heaps of mutations weird beasts... This joint system that lego has created is pure genius... its like an animators armature skeleton. So far I have created my own armoured warrior guy which I call 'Pahlerrak'... the good fusion of my Pahrak and Lerahk and with a few small ajustments [YES IT TRANSFORMS!] it mutates into a 6 armed dinosaur type beast which I call 'Lerpahrak'... the evil fusion. My character has like a split personality so it can mutate back and forth depending on its feelings... I've scribbled down the plans for that beast and now i've created another beast which I haven't named yet and probably won't... I was thinking Zoids at the time of building, so its kind of a Gun Sniper/Genosaur. Its pretty cool... plus it can carry one of those technic men on its back. I wish I had a digital camera... Go to the bionicle website and download some of the videos of the bionicle creatures... pretty cool 3D stuff.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ME!! - November 7, 2003

- At the time of typing this message its actually 5th Novemeber... but it'll be uploaded on the 7th so its all good. I've got myself a casual job as a PAPER BOY!! WAHOO! A 20yr old paperboy! I've spent the past 2 days folding and delivering newspapers... the whole damn 460 of them... The pay isn't something to brag about, but at least its something and I'll be able to buy some of that japanese pop culture (^-^)

- Anyway enough about me.... whats new this week? Well I got an email from some guy in which I forgot his name, but i'll be sure to remember it soon, as he said he saw that I was looking for that fuchikoma model and he happens to have a copy! I got all excited and yeah I asked if he could send me a copy of at least one of them.... So brace yourselves people!

- Another visitor to my site mentioned that I don't have any of those models from the Aliens movie posted on my site. I thought I already posted them here, but obviously I hadn't... So you'll find the link to the Pulse Rifle and the others in my other section.

- Now for some pure skill.... this 70 odd year old modeller is a master of papercraft. He has a huge model of the Spirit Resort from Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away [an awsome movie by the way]. You can look at it here and here, or have a sneak squiz in my wanted section. I tip my hat to you dude... keep up the good work.

- Now for a little bit of miscellaneous jumble... I found a pic of a pretty cool boxhead Mickey Mouse, and at the same site, that automated Smoking robot [see pictures below]. I also added a couple of pictures of some Virtua On models to my toy section.

Mostly VirtuaOn Mecha... - November 2, 2003

- YAY its NOVEMBER!!!! Me birthday month you see... Another 5 days!!! YIPPA!

- Anyway, like I have been doing over the past few weeks with the previous posts is revisiting some of the good sites which we have all lost in the huuuuuge list of links in our favourites/bookmarks. I stumbled across the guy that has a heap of cool looking picks of the Virtua On paper models. There's not a great deal of stuff that grabbed my attention again as I've seen it all before, but in one of his many links [that I'm still ploughing through] there were 2 downloads for a chibi styled virtua on mecha. I downloaded them and extracted them and they were Illustrator files (.AI)... this sucked cause I don't have Illustrator and Photoshop didn't open them for some reason... maybe I need a plugin or something. Anyway 'the wonder that its' - Flash, imported them like it were its own and the kingdom rejoiced YAY! The only problem is that it wasn't coloured... I don't think it was meant to be, but I will never know. The image below is what it is. I also might export the images from Flash to Photoshop and start to colour them in.

- Following the endless chain of weblinks, I also found a rather cool looking site that also deals in the Virtua On subject. Its mostly CG work of the mech and there was a download for one of them [unknown if it was paper] but the link is now dead... There's a stack of CG work to google over, so you can check some of it out in my toy section, where you'll also find the link.

- What else.... oh yeah... while still looking for that fuchikoma paper model [no luck yet :(], I found a cool little toy of it [actually I found it on the toyboxDX site :p]. I think I read somewhere that it was a little bonus gift from the GITS people saying sorry for taking so long to release something... anyway it's small and was stuck to the lid inside the box of the clear/transparent model of the Fuchikoma mech. You can find it on the toybox site, or if you just wanna see some pics check my toy section.

- A little bit of a model building update... After buying a new little bottle of glue [YAY!], I'm now about 2/3 of the way through the Destroid Monster, and I must say its up there with my most favourite. The original image files of the model are HUGE HI-RES JPEG's! which wouldn't fit on an A4 piece of paper nor would it fit on any shelf space that I have left. So I shrunk it down about 50-60% and I thought it was a reasonable size without making it all pixelatted and impossible to cut out. Now after completing the legs and majority of the body I think I probably could have shrunk it a bit more. My version stands at about 26cm tall, about 30+cm length and about 25cm wide. Its huge...I was expecting it to be kinda in the same proportions as the Veritech models I have, but I was dead wrong. I'm going to have to somehow shuffle all my models that little bit closer together or find somewhere else to put it... [mmm on top of the family TV! hehehe]

***October***

Koi Carp, Pokemon, Optimus & Eva Unit02!? - October 31, 2003

- Ever wanted to have a huge lake in your backyard with hundreds of koi carp swimming around? Well bad luck cause this isn't a fish pond... its a Koi Carp & Koi Kite. I made a koi kite when I was studied japanese in high school... I wish I took it home... they used it to decorate the classroom. Anyway... these things are cool.. find it in the other section.

- I posted another message in the smartgroups papermodel group asking if anyone has had the chance to get their hands on this japanese gamecube magazine which has regular papermodels. This time round its Charmander... [I called it Charizard on the group... I had a memory blank :P]. I added a picture to the wanted section, and I'm going to post the same message on my papermodel group, but yeah someone should get their hands on this magazine.

- I was revisting some older sites seeing if they have any new material and this is what I came up with: That mad modeller guy who made the transformer hako clones has an awsome model of the autobot leader Optimus Prime. I put some pictures in the wanted section... I can't wait to for it to come out. You can download the autobot insigna base to print out and build... I'll wait until you can print Optimus :) Also I found a couple of pictures of some cool looking robot things. There's this one that has no legs... its weird looking and I don't know what its from... and also there is a picture of a different Eva Unit00 and pictures of Eva Unit02!!!! Oooooo... No downloads though... but yeah look at me wanted section.

Bandai's Tamashii and Maser Tanks! - October 26, 2003

- Bandai has a new site which gives you a bit of info about its new Gundam and other toys/models. It's www.tamashii.jp. Lots of cool looking gundam mecha to look over, bummer its in japanese though... Using babelfish to translate didn't work 100% and well it never really does... so for some of the models I only can read half of its name [sob]. I uploaded a few of the cool looking ones in my toy section.

- Maser Tanks? If you remember a few posts ago I showed a picture of really detailed paper model of one of the Maser Tanks from the Godzilla movie series. Well mr shunpop, the guy who the veritech/startrek/starwars/delorean models is working on one of the Maser Tanks. You will probably see the finished thing in the not to distant future, however in the mean time see what he's up to and check out a short history of the Maser Tanks.

- Like I said last post, I had finished my Karen O model and I said I should have the rest of the band finished by the end of the month... well make it the end of next month. Its coming up to Christmas and next month is November!! The month of Birthdays!! I have my and a heap of my friends 20th, plus a couple 21st, so I'll be a little busy. I have the Destroid Monster to build, a few box head models for christmas, a handfull of new GBA games to play and hopefully some one would read my resume and employ me for the christmas rush.

A few models to buy... - October 20, 2003

- Not really worth mentioning, but it might interest a few. Its some links where you can buy that poseable Gundam RX-78-2, plus a few others like Char from Gundam and Fuchikoma from Ghost in the Shell. I got a bit excited when I saw the Fuchikoma model... i've seen it before, but it has given me a bit of enthusiasm to search for it. Here are the models: Metal Gear Solid Rex | Gundam RX-78-2 more| Ghost in the Shell: Fuchikoma | Char Aznable | Sayla Mass. You'll find some of the pictures in the wanted section.

- I also found a picture of book which is full of paper models of characters from 3x3 Eyes anime. You'll find the picture of it in the wanted section.

- Also I finally found a site which has images of those giant gundams!! I don't think they are to scale, but you need a ladder to get into it. Check em here, here and here.

- A member in my group enquired about this site, which had a few models [page 1, 2 & 3] that he wished to build. I had a look and it was site where I found that small kobun, gundam and whitebase model. I had a look at the others and they all seem to be a .tmo file format...? I haven't a clue what program opens this, but the guy said there is some program that has a limited evaluation on it or something. I briefly looked for this program to download but I failed. The models ae pretty simple, being only different shaped prisms stuck together. It should be pretty simple to recreate in any 3D program. He are a few that interested me:

- I finished the Hako/boxhead model of Karen O, the lead singer from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. It looks pretty cool... can't wait to finish the others. I'll upload it when I've finished them all. I also printed out the Destroid Monster model... which is a bummer because it used up the rest of the colour ink in my printer and now I have little ink to build anymore models. To top it off i'm also running out of glue! AAAAAGGGHHH!!

- A revisit to the ToyboxDX site and I found pictures of a bootleg General Marshall Gundam. See them in my toy section.

- I just got my hands on the next Megaman game, "Megaman Zero 2". You'll find a few screenshots of it in the games section.

- I've also updated my pixel and archive section. I now have animated gifs displaying some of my icon work and the archives were getting pretty full so I've devided it in two. Pretty neat stuff.

It's GREEN and its MEAN! - October 17, 2003

- No its not a paper model of Hulk, but it is a hulk of metal (paper?). What is it? Well its the Destroid Monster of course. There are a gazillion of people hanging out for this model and I was one of them. Well, wait no longer thanks to a fellow paper modeller. I don't know what else to say about this model... its just too good to be true :) Check my group or the mecha section.

- On other news... while browsing around again for new models, I found a paper model of Robotman/Biotron. It looks transformable, but i don't know. There was only one image of it and I failed to find anything else on it. I'll need to look harder. Anyway check my wanted section for a glimpse of it.

- Also check my toy section for a few veritech fighters and zoids to drool over...

- I've made 5 boxhead models of my own, but only one of which I have posted on my site. If you haven't seen him, his name is Bad Ben, You can find him in my other section and my updated project section. I also have another called Dopey Jim, but I haven't posted him as I don't particularly like him. I have two others based on my parents and another of a my good friend Jess :) I don't intend to post these ones as they are kinda personal. Why am I telling you all this then? Well I've started work on another boxhead style character, not the same style of boxhead though, more like those hako-clone ones. Anyway, this time they are based of my favourite band at the momment. The YEAH YEAH YEAH'S!!!! I've finished Karen O's [lead singer] head and am now drawing up her body. She should be finished in a week or so, and I should have the rest of the band [drummer and guitar] done by the end of this month. Should be good.

- Also over the weekend I have put together a somewhat transformable VF-1J. I intended to make a hako-clone/boxhead style version, but I ended up trying to make it transform. Its really small [being only 5cm long], and really fiddly [because of its small size]. I haven't figured out how to incorporate the wings and head to fold up with it yet. So far just the legs, arms and chest piece fold up perfect. You have to add/remove the wings and head to transform it. It doesn't have poseability and it isn't meant to. Its just supposed to transform. It can transform into gerwalk mode, but the arms are facing backward because they can't rotate. Its a work in progress, and I don't intend to release it, unless of course I complete it and it turns out really good :) I'll probably release an animation of how it transforms and the boxhead style version of it though... look here for an update. Anyway enough of my babble...

MBR-ST8s & Lucky Star - October 13, 2003

- From the same guy that made the ST-6M, is a new and much cooler red looking mecha. There are only pictures of it so far, but cross your fingers, and I'm sure that in the not to distant future you will be able to download it. Check my wanted section for a couple of pictures or go here for the site.

- This thing is from some japanese game, which if you buy you get the model included. I think you can only buy it in Japan or though the net though [bummer no downloads]. Anyway, it looks like that booster/thingy from Gundam mixed with Rex from Metal Gear Solid. Kinda weird looking but pretty cool. Again check my wanted section for a couple of pictures or go here for the site. Even though you can't download it, you can download the instructions for it. Its a two-something-odd megabyte download, but it will give you a good look at what it is.

- Also on the same site that the Lucky Star model was found are a handful [not that you could hold all the models in your hand, they're huge!] of models of characters. Charaters like Sayla & Char from Gundam and Dente from Devil May Cry 2. There are a few others, like 2 baseball players and some other fighting guy. Its worth a looking if your into building huge models of people.

- Nothing major here, I was just going to mention what I've been up to of late. I've been meaning to give my site a revamp. Make it look a little better... I'm currently fiddling around with forms and tables and frames and a whole lotta complicated junk. I'm getting a bit tired of this black on white boring look. I'm not promising anything, but its just an idea. I also need to revamp my pixel section, update it a bit and make it more of a feature on my site.

Also while I'm here I may aswell comment on the new Flash. Its up to version 7, and the new app is called 'FlashMX 2004'. I don't know what is wrong with just Flash 7, but hey what do I know. Anyway, its pretty damn snazzy. It looks heaps better than the previous version using the window docking feature and enabling them to disappear to a small bar on the side of the screen. Lots of eye candy done to the GUI. I don't know much about its new features yet, I just installed it this afternoon. However I did notice it has a star tool which is good. Its a whopping 72mb download, which was bad on my lil 56k modem, but I think 6 hours later it was worth it. If your not into creating Flash, you might want to download the latest Flash Player instead. The internet is full of Flash content these days.

Contra bike & More Old School Robots! - October 10, 2003

- Have you played the latest Contra game on PS2? I have... I didn't particularly like it.... to hard. Anyway... like many other [japanese] game sites they have a papermodel from the game. From the latest Contra game is the Contra bike. Its pretty cool, I'd rather build the Akira bike, but thats just because I'm more of a fan of anime than of the Contra series. It comes with the rider aswell, but unfortunately he ain't 3D like the bike, he's a flat piece of paper folded in two. Find the link in the VideoGames section.

- While searching around for new models I came across a site that I forgot that existed. When I first found it, it didn't have a large selection of "robots". I put these " around robots, because you can really call them all robots. They are kinda weird looking contraptions. Most of them look like the Old School Tin robots though so thats what I labelled them. They site is very colourful and so are the robot designs, so you may need to wear sunglasses. Check the Mecha section for the link and a couple of examples of the 30+ "robots" you can find there.

- Also while searching around, I found this 2-3m tall cardboard robot. The sites in japanese, but I was using babelfish to translate it at the time so I only have the babelfish translated link. I hope it works, but just to be safe next tim I'm online I'll retrieve the correct address and update this post. Anyway back to the robot... its not coloured, so its just that plain old cardboard box colour, it kind of looks gundam inspired or its a robot that I've never seen before. Also from the strange translation that babelfish gave me, it looks like there is a computer built into it?!! Its the new craze, buy a new computer and then build a 2m tall robot out of the cardboard box it came in! :)

- I wish I had a credit card... then I could buy some of these macross paper craft books that were release in the 80's and that. Anyway I found another book, not Macross related, but its a guide book for the Armored Core game on PS1. It comes with a paper model of one of the Armored Core mecha... There is a image of one of the pages, but its not very helpful. See this link for details about it or just look at these pictures.

- A little bit of a ToyboxDX & Stickfa revist the other day. Found this awsome detailed toy of the battloid mode of the VF-J1 veritech fighter, I've got to get my hands on this... I don't know if it transforms, but who cares it looks good. Also a little wooden robot guy [see picture above]. He's cute and funny looking.. another must have. Also I found a pic of the Metal Gear Solid Rex model. Also there is a couple of new Stickfa figurines coming out or are already available so keep a look out. Check them all out in the toys section.

Cones, Foam Robots, Pokemon, Zaku and Zentradi Regult! - September 28, 2003

- Nah, not cones as in the drugs thingo, but cones as in an actual cone. I found this little program that generates cones. You specify the diameter/radius, angles and height and bobs-your-uncle you have the cone of your choice. Not only does it generate a 3D image of the cone that you can rotate to your hearts content, but it also unfolds the cone! So for yall that are trying to build papermodels from scratch [like myself] and want a conical shape an their models... look no further. The only problem though is that it doesn't put tabs on the cone once unfolded, but the program wasn't built for papermodelling unlike Pepekura. Go here to check it out.

- Robots made of foam? Well something like that... You know those "Z cards" or whatever they were called... it was a 3d model, which pieces were punchouts on a regular sized trading card. You punch the pieces out and slot them together and you have a little 3d model. Well, this site has a heap of little and not so little robots made from the same foam rubber card stuff. Go here if you like robots and especially if you like the old skool tin robot types. No downloads though.

- Found a site which had a couple of pokemon models. There ain't any downloads, but there a few pictures to look at. Not as complicated as the pokemon models from that gamecube magazine, but still good. Check them out here.

- For those who haven't already downloaded the Zaku model, and if your having difficulty with that taiwanese site thats incredibly slow, you might want to head over to this site. I tried the first link and the link didn't appear dead so this might be helpful for some people. I've added the link to the mecha section.

- YAY finally an other Macross mecha paper model. Its been ages since the release of the fighter mode version of the VF-1S, and that uber photo of that Destroid Monster at some convention, and it will be a little while still untill I finish my Monster. Its a polygon/pepakura style model created by a guy known as Diego. People belonging to the smartgroups papermodel group would have heard this guys name. In fact thats where you have to go to download this model. The link is in the mecha section.

Super Asimo, Custom Cam08 & Mighty Atom!! - September 28, 2003

- Don't know if this is an official asimo or a fan type thingy, but yeah if looks pretty cool... like asimo for the military. The only problem is that its still in a pepakura state, so you need to unfold it and fix it up yourself. There aren't any instructions either. There are 4 of them. The red and grey one are the same, but the blue one has a different head design. The fourth one is really weird. I'd hate to build these, unless someone else unfolded the model and created some instructions or something. I'm not a huge fan of somewhat complicated pepakura models. I extracted the shotgun trooper guy from Quake 2 and unfolded it in tenkai and yeah it was a brain killer to build. Check the mecha section.

- On a might brighter note, that Kamiasobi or whatever its called, made an Astro boy [Mighty Atom, or whatever its called in your country] and his girly friend to celebrate the year of might atom or something. It looks like an OK build, maybe a little fiddly, but yeah its ASTRO BOY! Check the other section.

- I loved the original Cam08 model. Now I found a 'custom' version of the Cam08 model. Its yellowy tan-ish colour with a black frog logo on it. I probably won't build it, cause I've already built the original one, but you never know. Check the mecha section.

Its a COW!! - September 26, 2003

- I went on a big site crawl the other day. I don't think I've seen so many non-english sites in my life and I don't really want to see anymore. I can read basic katakana and hiragana japanese, but i don't know what it means, and that can get frustrating especially when your looking for a link or a particular word like "robot", "mecha" and "paper". Anyway, I've dug up a couple of things that might take your interest.

- You guys know the farming RPG called Harvest Moon? Well there is a GBA version of the game [not a port from the SNES] coming soon and I found a site [in japanese] that has 2 models to download. There is a cow and your pet dog. I like the cow the best and have posted it in my video games section, but you'll find the dog at the same link.

- I found a heap of images of the lazer gun tank thing from the godzilla movies. I think I saw it in Godzilla vs Destroyer. Go here for the pics.

- If you remember a little while back, I mentioned that there was a really cool Link model from the new Zelda game on the Gamecube. Well I revisited the site and found a heap of new stuff. The Link model was with a japanese gamecube magazine, and it looks like this magazine has regular papermodels in it. These lately have been pokemon characters. These models are pretty good and have made it my wanted list. So if you live in Japan or you have friends in Japan, or you happen to be able to find this magazine where you live, email me.

- I revisted a site that has the automated papermodels. I especially like the tin robot style ones and of course the one made to celebrate the year of the Mighty Atom!

- The same site also has the Gundam Wing model! Check the wanted section for a revisit of this model.

- On the topic of Gundam, I also found this model of this C-Fighter. Don't know if thats its name, but its what the site called it. Can't download it though... just look at the pic.

- For those who are looking for the names of papercraft books that have punch out pages of Getter Robo and Ultraman for example, check this site... Don't think there are any downloads though... I haven't check all the links... If there is, you'll be sure I'll let you know next update.

- There are a couple of new plastic models in the toys section, including some destroids.

- Nothing major, but I'm stuck again while building my scratch build of my Destroid Monster. I'm having difficulty securing the 4 gun barrels on top the thing. I might copy that other guys Monster. Also, I've printed out and have started building the head of the ST6M robot. Its looking good so far. I also printed off one of the boxhead zelda models and the hako dinobots. I printed them at like 20% and they are pretty small and somewhat fiddly, but they look pretty cool once built.

More stuff to add!! [and its good too!] - September 21, 2003

- A few cool things that will get you excited. For starters I found a heap of images of a HUGE card model of the SDF-1!! Yep, I did say huge and I ain't kidding, I have a couple of images in my wanted section but go here for the actual site. Unfortunatly there is no download.

- The guys that made that Mazinger Z head and the Astro boy model have now made a Zaku head. I get confused which zaku is which, but its not the red one. Look at the image of it, in my mecha section.

- There is also a model of the Pizza Parlor from the Samurai Pizza Cats anime/cartoon. Word of warning though: Its hand drawn and had coloured with which looks like coloured pencils. Cool model though. Find a very bad image of it in my other section.

- That gun guy is still churning out gun models, this time the AK47 and M92 pistol. Awsome... find them here.

- I recently followed a couple of links and stummbled across another site pack with images from some model convention. See some of the cool looking ones in the toys section.

ST6M password, bike and BEAN!! - September 19, 2003

- YAY! for some reason the guy who made the ST6M robot [which you had to purchase the password for the coloured version] now has the password for the coloured version along side the download. Thanks to a member of my paperandglue group for telling me about this. Go to the mecha section to get it.

- You know that boxhead guy on a bike model that I was looking for? Well I posted a message in the smartgroups papermodel group and someone replied saying they found the bike, but not the guy riding it. Which sucks, but its better than nothing. I could probably make my own boxhead guy to put on the bike.

- From the same place that the bike came from, I also found a heap Mini models [mini as in a car mini], and with all the different colours and stuff there was a Mr Bean version including his !! A site not to far away from the site where I got the bike from are a heap of boxhead style animals. I only upload images of my favourites, but there is a small collection to choose from. Also there is a Wallace & Gromit style rocket there aswell. So if you can't be bothered to wait until that guys site is no longer clogged and decides to post his Wallace & Gromit rocket somewhere else besides on a geocities site!! Find it in my other section. Compare them below!

Rocket based of Wallace & Gromit, but can't be downloaded because site is always dragged down due to heavy traffic.
A Rocket that looks similar and can be downloaded in a matter of seconds, but the colour scheme is wrong.

W&G rocket that you can get due to mega traffic on geocities site OR A somewhat similar rocket [colours are all wrong].

- While at 3dpapermodel.com.tw, on the front page is a new model that has been released [a guy with a sword]. Go to my wanted section to briefly see what the model is, and then check the site for more info and more pics. I think its from some RPG on the Playstation or something, I dunno. It looks good though.

- Don't know if this is a mistake or something, but it could be gold. Visit this site: http://www.geocities.co.jp/Playtown-Toys/9328/ and then tell me if this guy is a nut like me and is building a Destroid from Robotech/Macross. At the bottom of the page, there is a coming soon link. Next to the link is a picture of this spaceship/aircraft thingy and right next to that is a very small black & white image of this: A Destroid ADR-04-MK10 Defender!! Clicking on the coming soon link only shows images of the spaceship/aircraft thing and nothing on the Defender. I hope it ain't a mistake.

- Nothing major, but since I have finished building the Votoms Brutish Dog model, I needed a new model to build so I saw my half built Destroid Monster covered in dust and so I picked it up and got stuck into it again. I've successfully built the feet first go! Usually I make a miss calculation and forget a face or something, but nuh, I built it perfect first go. All there is to go now is the lower leg part which joins the upper leg/knee to the foot, the 4 large turrets on top of the whole thing, little detailed pieces and then finally giving it a paint job. Go here to see some early pics of it.

A large, but little bit of everything - September 11, 2003

- A bit of info about the ST6M robot model from my last post. I translated the site and it said something about that you have to pay for the password. Which sucks for us el cheapo people, but if you want the model so much you could probably try extracting the images from the black and white version and colouring it yourself.

- There's some guy who has his own site... I think his name was Steve. Anyway he was at my site, saw Pepakura and then downloaded it. He had created this spaceship thingy [don't quite know the history behind it, if it has any], which he built in Rhino and exported to Pepakura. He gave me a buzz through my email and told me about it and gave me a link or two. Its his first build so its not as high quality as some of the pro stuff. Also its only black and white, which sucks, but yeah... I thought I'd mention him because he linked my site ton his so I guess I'll have to repay the favour. This is his site.

- For those of you who are looking for those incredibly cool poseable paper gundam models, look no further. No I haven't got a download link or anything, but you can now buy them through Hobbylink Japan site. Also while you are there check out the 1/100 MG MSN-00100 Hyakushiki [Its that really cool looking gold gundam model/toy that you can find pictures of in my toy section].

- I've gone a bit Transformers nutty in the past week. I had a craving to build some more Transformers icons. The problem was that I had built every Transformer from my Transformers catalogue that has a heap of pictures of all the Transformers available in that year. That year happened to be 1986. Ahh the good old days... Anyway, so I went looking around to see if I could find any of the catalogues from previous/latter years. Only a few minutes later I happened to find a site, which pretty much has every single Transformers manual scanned. I got clicking happy and now I have about 30mb of Transformers manuals in jpegs on my harddrive. Its not all wasted though, I also found another site, which had Transformers catalogues from Generation 1. I also found them at the Transformers Archive site aswell. Check them both out because one site has some better quality scans than the other and vice versa. I'm really only interested in Generation 1. So now, I can get busy making some more icons!

- Also still on the subject of Transformers, while in my city bound Kings Comics store, I came across this book that was like an encyclopaedia of Transformers toys. Basically it was like every Transformers toy that had been available in like one book [or a series, not quite sure]. Next time i'm in store, I'll be sure to get more info and a price check so I can add it too my Christmas stocking and then clear 30+mb of jpegs from my harddrive. The book was called "Cybertronian Index: Unofficial Recognition Guide". There's a picture of the cover in my toys section.

- From the guy that made those Starwars models, the Valkyrie and Gerwalk modes of the VF-J1 and who can forget the cool Delorian, comes a half model of Getter Robo. Half model as in its just the torso and head. I'll get more excited when its more of a complete build, but yo can download it and built it like this if you want.

- Whats with that Wallace and Gromit model at the SmartGroups Papermodel Group. One minute people are saying you can't download it, then the next some guys says "i just downloaded it" and so when I go to get it, I can't download it! Stupid.

- I have found the link to the One Piece boxhead models. I lost it before, but now it is found. You can get the 3 One Piece models, Domo and that anime snot bubble, plus a heap of other little ones. What has got me more interested, is the image of a boxhead guy riding a bicycle on the front page. I couldn't find a link to download it and I need to have it! Its soo cool!

- I haven't talked about Flash on this site before. Flash as in Macromedia's FlashMX. Flash is great, i use it to make small animated thingys when I get bored... and its somewhat a better image making program than Photoshop in a way. Yeah yeah I know you might think I'm a bit stupid and I don't know what I'm talking about, but the layers thingy on Photoshop annoys me. When you are designing something or just drawing something, being able to hit copy paste, without the copied image being sent to its own layer is a blessing. Anyway, why I bothered to mention Flash in the first place is, that there is a new version coming out in the not too distant future called: FlashMX 2004. It has new features and stuff, like all new versions do, and plus it looks pretty damn cool. Can't wait.

Not much happening besides viruses & ST6M - August 31, 2003

- I think I'll call this week 'Hacker Week', or 'The Media like's Virus's Week'. In Australia anyhow, every day or 2 I've seen a topic in the news about a new virus or something...

- Anyway, there is a new robot thing out, its called ST-6-M or something... I forgot about trying to translate the site so it was all a gibberish to me. I managed to download the robot though... both versions (black & white and colour versions.) The problem with the colour version is that it's a password protected pdf. Which sucks... the password might be there somewhere if I looked at it in english, but maybe someone else might find it, and if so email me or drop a message to my group if your a member. You'll find the link to it in the mecha section.

- Also a minor note about my group: I've lifted the need for messages to be authorised on my group so memebers can freely post messages as they please. I might not check my group as regularly as my email so if you need something in a hurry or you couldn't be bothered having to wait a bit longer email me directly. Also my group has a 20mb storage limit in the file section so make sure that if you are to post a model, it isn't already linked or available on my site. If they are image files upload them to the photos section.

- The Bandai Museum opened earlier this month. Can't remember the date but yeah sometime this month. Its in Japan too, which sucks for little old me living in the land down under. But I've added it to my imaginary list of things to see in Japan. You can buy a 'Master Grade Gundam RX-78-2 version 1.5" at 8/30 scale for a tiny chunk of about ¥6000, which is about $80AUS. You can find the image of it in my toy section or check the Bandai Museum site to have a little look around. Its in japanese too so get that translator ready.

- Also, while browsing around I found a toy magazine [in english] that caught my eye. I haven't been out and about looking for it yet in my city-bound comic stores yet, but from what the site shows it looks like a damn good read if your into Japanese toy culture... and if your not, what are doing here?! The link to the magazines site is on its logo below:

- I've also been playing Pokemon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire and Final Fantasy Tactics on Gameboy Advance. Look here for a couple of screen shots and an unofficial review of what I think of them.

- While the virus crap was going on, I had the chance to get back to my pixels. I made a handfull of Gundam icons and a couple of new Veritech fighers. Also I was fiddling around with the Agent Smith character and I made him do a bullet time dodge thingy. It looks pretty cool, well I think so anyway. A friend of mine said I should use this creativity on my own characters/story. He's right, but its easier to take something that already has a history and story behind it and muck around with it. I'm probably crossing some fine line with copyright laws, but its only to see what I can do with the medium of pixels, and you can't push it much further than the Matrix. Go to my pixel page to read a little more on it and check out my new icons or just look at it below:

Wallace and Gromit? and Titan No.08 - August 15, 2003

- Not much in this update. I forgot to look up about that show that had that Destroid Monster model, so i'll do that next time :)

- I got the new Pepakura Designer recently and its pretty cool. A bit better than Tenkai. I haven't used it much, except for looking at the sample model, which is that little green dragon thats like the Pepakura mascot or something. Anyway.... I was at their site lookig at the gallery of all the models, and it was in japanese. Altavista's Babel fish translation site didn't do a very good job of translating so I was a bit lost and couldb't figure out if you could download any of the models or not. One of those models was the Titan No.08. A pretty simple looking polygon character when you look at it, but it looks cool none-the-less. Can you download it?

- Looking for spacecraft models? planets? sattelites? Well thanks to a link sent to my group, theres a site which has a gazzillion of them. Including a rocket, which looks similar to the rocket that Wallace and Gromit built from 'A Grand Day Out'. Is it the same? Also there were to models that I think are from the movie 'When the Earth Stood Still' or 'War of the Worlds', one of them, but the links didn't work. Does anyone know where they are?

- There is also an Elven Destroyer from Warcraft 2. Its a bit of an old model and I don't know why I didn't post it earlier. There is also a Lara Croft model and a Death Star on the same site.

- There are also a couple of new models added to the Wanted section, which I have moved to its own page and a couple of FoundryDX lego models added to the toy section.

Too many things to put in one title! - August 10, 2003

- Wow, I got bombarded with stuff this week. One or 2 people had problems with my downloads, so I have to check all my links and hopefully all problems are fixed. Remember people if everything fails don't forget, Right-click "save target as".

- Appart from that community service announcement, the niche of papermodels has been busy. In the Mecha section you will find a link to a site with a handfull of Homeworld spaceship models. I only provided 2 images, but there are about 8 or so to choose from. It took me ages to download them, and they were no larger that 2mb... my trasfer rate kept throttling down to like 0.1kb/sec... don't know why, bad server? or I had a bad connection? dunno but it was very slow.

- I have found the head of that unknown robot model from Hayao Miyazaki's animated classic "Castle in the Sky Laputa." And boy is it huge. Like I mean, like once it was built you could probably put it over your head. Don't know why it was that big. I wonder if the rest of its body will come out too. At the same site there was also the head/torso of a female character from Gundam, i think... Go here.

- Also there are few more Nintendo characters to build aswell. Including Boo and Shyguy etc which you will find in the new Video Game Model section. Basically if it came from a game it will be here, so don't freak out if you can't find a model that was orginally in the Other section.

- Tenkai is on its last version and will no longer be updated or anything as it has been merged into Pepakura.

- A little while back I started a scratch build of a Destroid Monster from the Macross universe. I haven't done any more work on it in ages, and then the other day I saw an image of one already built that was at some model expo or something. Its pretty damn good... I like the arm joints, but they didn't make the feet rounded? cheaters! hehe I'll look up more on the expo next time. In the mean time, compare mine to the professionally made one:

MP5a5, Worms 3D & 4 Gundam RX versions - August 3, 2003

- That Mad Modeler Masamune keeps churning them out doesn't he? He has completed 4 versions of the RX78 style Gundam. They are pretty much the same just different colours. I don't know whether I'll build one of these because I already have the huge detailed Gundam RX78. I might build the blue one, but make it really small, like 10cm or so high. I haven't started on the Patlabor one yet though, i'm still building the Votoms Brutish Dog model.

- That guy who makes all those guns has put out another favourite of mine... the MP5a5. There is also a silencer aswell.

- Team 17, the creators of the very addictive Worms games, is currently working on the next installation in the series, Worms 3D. And of course there are some paper models to follow. So far is the Banana Bomb and a Mine. Can't wait to build a Super Sheep and one of the worms characters.

Patlabor, Gundam and Homeworld ships - August 1, 2003

- The excitement meter has risen up two or three notches this week. That guy [Mad Modeler Masamune] who makes those 'hako-clones' of Transformers and a handfull of other odd characters has finally released his Patlabor model. The image of this model has been on his site for ages but now we can all download it and build away. The zip file comes with 3 versions of the same labor mech, one piloted by Noa Izumi another by Isao Ohta and then the backup type labor. There is also the police command car and labor transport truck. Unfortunately this model is a little blocky, but hey I shouldn't complain. He should make the Griffon model aswell (see image).

- I found the guy who made those Gundam ships. Some nice big images too look over... No downloads as yet unfortunately, cross your fingers though. Heres the site if you want to have a look... there is a model of some crazy guy there too...

- Last week I mention some guys who are making some of the spacecraft from Homeworld. Well, one of the guys gave me the link to his site where there were 2 pepakura/tenkai polygon style models to build. One of a Fuel Pod ship and the other a Multi-beam Frigate. He mentions on his site that it is a bit fiddly printing it out on 1 A4 sheet but more on this here. Hope to see that huge mothership one :)

- Off papermodels... there was a model building competition or something on not that long ago and heres a site full of some pretty cool looking plastic mecha: http://www.thaigundam.com/tour_mast2003_day2.htm

Another Minor Update with big letters - July 15, 2003

- Yet another month where there wasn't much in the papermodel world. However, this has been around awhile yet I only found it last week. Its the Zero and Tiger fighter jets from the Yamato Shaceship model. I'd so like to get my hands on the Yamato model. I remember seeing a site which had pictures of some asian school student building it. It was huge, and when i say huge i mean like 2-3m long. Anyhow, yeah i'll continue looking around for it.

- Also there is some guy who has made the spaceships from Gundam [Albion?]. I forgot to translate the page, while online and so I don't know what it says. Its in chinese I think. Anyhow the pictures look pretty cool, and hopefully they will be available to build sometime soon. Heres the link to the site plus the picture of them:

- Talking of spaceships... I was given a link to a forum thread talking about turning the ships from Homeworld into papermodels. This would be a really cool project, due to the fact that the Homeworld spacecraft are pretty cool pieces of spacetravel stuff. The thread was a bit long and I could find any pictures within it and I stopped reading :), but there was a link to the digitalnavy site which has papermodels of real life ships. It was late so I didn't investigate further, but if there is any work being done making the Homeworld ships please send us a photo or two.

- I have a link to the Gamecube magazine that had that much wanted Link (from Zelda) model. Apparently that magazine has a paper model with it every now and then. Looking in the gallery I saw two pokemon models including Pikachu and this thing from a game called Mother 1&2? Dunno whats thats about but yeah... if you want some papermodels that are based off games particularly Nintendo games look out for this magazine. Heres the link to a site which has images of the models: http://chokipeta.jp/ and this is the link to the magazine in which the models come from: http://www.mediaworks.co.jp/magazine/game/i_dgc.html. Email me if you get a copy of these models.

- Speaking of Link (from Zelda), there is a new basic (box head type) model of him. Its really simple, but it might have to do while you wait for the really good one.

- I started building the Brutishdog model last week. I have the upper half complete and so far its looking pretty snazzy. I love building these really big models. I recommend this build, although there are some big areas that should have not have colour on it, due to the fact that you can't see it. A bit of a waste of ink.

- Away from papermodels... I finally got my hands on the Animatrix DVD. Pretty damn fine stuff. I also finally saw Macross Plus, well the first episode anyway... Its been out for ages and I finally got it the other day. Not bad. Need to see the rest of the episodes to get me more hooked. So far I prefer the Robotech series. I also found a heap of images of some pretty cool poseable toys/models [gundam, new eva, zoids]. I also found a picture of the Robotech toys, I was talking about last time. See the toy section for the pictures.
