a Treasure Planet Long John Silver Fansite

hmm...what really can i say...John Silver rocks. oh yeah, and sis, YOU'RE WRONG. i did read Treasure Island before i saw Treasure Planet. i read it in fifth grade. HA. so THERE.

but anyway, sis did help me out. we discuss movies and stuff like crazy. and we've both always loved pirates, because you know...THEY'RE AWESOME.

(besides, she'd bug the hell out of me if i didn't give her credit sooner or later!)

oh yeah, about the site...

it's a John Silver fansite. from Treasure Planet.

obvious enough?

see, i'm weird that way; i've never been a huge fan of the hero in a story. well, not until i thoroughly dissect the villian, to see if they're any good. see, no villian is completely evil, just like no person is completly good. then again, Silver was more the anti-hero than the villian. he was a rogue, plain and simple. now, is that too wordy for ye? hope not! 'cause then you're not gonna understand the rest. you may wanna leave now. :P

as i was saying, i could easily put myself in Jimbo's shoes and not hate John Silver. well, to be honest, i'd probably be pissed, and then i'd cry my eyes out. hehe.

see, John was soft. we all know he was. well, for a pirate he was. i know if i were i pirate, i still couldn't kill a kid. maybe someone i didn't like...but not a kid. you'd have to be seriously unhinged to go and do that kinda thing.

John wasn't a rotten person. he was just a sweet-talker. and clever, too. he knew what he was doin'. well, kinda. he wasn't stupid, though. SHUT UP! he wasn't stupid.

people have the connotation that all pirates were murderous, ignorant slobs. NOT TRUE! look at Jack Rackham, for example.

whoopsies, getting off-topic...

oh yeah, back to why i love John Silver...

like i said, he's a sweet-talker and will hide his ulterior motives with a smile and a bow. he wanted that treasure...until he met Jim, that is. Jim looked to him as a father figure and John looked to him as the son he never had. of course, he had to stick to the plan, otherwise his crew would've double mutinied. keel hauled 'im. bye bye Johnny. AND NOBODY WANTS THAT! *sobs* i love John! whoop...*ahem* he wanted the treasure, but he valued Jim more. he was torn between what he'd been searching for his entire life and that boy. he gave up everything for that treasure, and on chasing that dream, he missed out on the simple things; one particular thing called companionship. Silver was always alone, always doing for himself, always being tough. to think he'd change that much because of Jim. but he was a very complex character. probably the most complex of them all.

which is why i love 'im. aaaw.

on this site, i'll have links to pages concerning Disney and how they made Treasure Planet, pirates, of course, the old Treasure Island and comparing Treasure Planet to that, and of course, even MORE about John Silver, all three versions.

this is gonna be the rockinest John Silver site ever known!!
