A position of
CAD/CAM engineer in the automotive industry
- Solid background in mechanical design and analysis; familiar with Ford
Product Development and Manufacturing systems (FPDS, FPS).
- Proficient with SDRC I-deas; working knowledge on Catia V5.
- Graduate research focused on milling simulation using CAD/CAM and parallel
processing technique.
- 2.5 years of comprehensive manufacturing experience (powertrain &
vehicle assembly) with Ford China Operations.
- 3 years of experience designing elevator guiding system and its
components.
- Double Master's degrees in Mechanic
Engineering and Business Administration.
July 03 -present Vehicle Integration Engineer, Ford Motor Company, Dearborn,
Michigan
- Assess ESO (Engineering Sign-Off) readiness of MCR-initiated engineering
changes for Explorer/Mountaineer/Sport Trac/Aviator programs, based on
component level performance (D/R) and vehicle engineering attributes
(Durability, NVH, S&R, Safety/Regulatory Requirements…)
- Lead ESO activities for MCR actions.
- Follow up GRCT and OTG, to ensure timing consistency on events of ESO,
Plant Trial, PSW, and Incorporation.
Sept 99 - Dec 00 Research/Teaching Assistant/McMaster Univ., Hamilton,
Ontario
- Developed parallel programs in C++ and Lisp to simulate machining process
using ACIS Solid Modeler. Implemented the parallel programs on SGI320 dual-CPU
computer and networked computers.
- Performed static and dynamic analysis of sheet metal foil under different
CMM probe load cases using FEA software H3D-MAP. The results were
post-processed in I-deas and provided to CMM research group to optimize touch
trigger speed, acceleration, dwell time, and force. Performed the same
analysis in SDRC I-deas to verify the results.
- Taught undergraduate students SDRC I-deas in computer lab for two terms.
Topics included solid construction, assembly, mechanism, B-spline modeling,
etc.
Dec 96 - Jun 99 Project/Quality Engineer/Ford China Operations, Beijing,
China
- Developed Quality Operating Systems (QOS) for launch and production of
Mercury Villager in China.
- Interfaced with PVT of Ford Ohio Assembly Plant to resolve product/process
problems of Villager program.
- Coordinated process development and engineering changes between
transmission suppliers and Ford Manual Transmission Engineering Group in
Germany, to produce Ford MT-75 transmission in China for the Transit program.
- Developed various quality programs such as APQP, PPAP, SPC, GR&R, and
drove implementation of these programs at the MT-75 transmission suppliers.
Provided QS9000 training to suppliers.
Feb 95 - Nov 96 Application Engineer/Siber Hegner (Swiss) Machinery,
Beijing, China
- Developed grinding processes and selected machines (including control
systems) in support of sales of various European-made CNC grinding machines in
China market.
- Contacted machine-builders to clarify customer's technical questions.
Aug 88 - Jan 95 Design/Project Engineer/Capital Steel (Shougang) Corp, Beijing,
China
- Designed clamping and handling tools for Elevator Guide Rail production.
- Directed the development and manufacture of the first hollow elevator
guide rail in China, from material test, product design, engineering, tools
design, to final production.
- Led a group of technicians/engineers to dismantle used steel-making
equipment in Pittsburgh, USA.
- MBA/Wayne State Univ., Detroit, Michigan, Sept. 01-May 03.
-
M.S.
in Mechanical Engineering/McMaster Univ., Hamilton, Ontario, Sept. 99-Jan.
01. (Thesis title “Parallel Machining Simulation Using a Networked Solid
Modeler”)
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering/Northeastern Univ., China, Sept. 84-Jul.
