Yo yo yo mofos, I thought I best write some sort of review of something, because I’m generous like that, so this is my review of Halo 2. I’ll try and keep it short and sweet so you’s lot don’t get too bored reading it…
Well first I’m gonna talk about what lets the game go slightly in my opinion. The overall feel to the game, can at times be quite claustrophobic. What do I mean by this? Well, your vision can be quite restricted when dual-wielding certain guns; I find that the needlers cut off a significant portion of your view when being dual-wielded. And obviously holding the rocket launcher takes up a fair space, compared to Halo, I think it takes up more space.
(This paragraph might spoil the game if your only just starting out on the campaign, so I advise you to miss it out!) Lots of people have said they don’t like the story line as much as in the first game, in fact lots of people have said its pretty crap. I’m sort of on the fence on that, it wasn’t as good as I was expecting, and playing on the side of the covenant was a bit of a let down, for instance, the sense of not knowing what the fuck was going on until the very end of the game becomes vacant from this game, which is disappointing. Saying this though, it is purely a progression of the plot of the whole story, so frankly any major critics, go and come up with a better story line yourself before you begin to slag this one off.
Oh and one other, very insignificant, but worth mentioning point, is that you don’t have health in the second game as you do in the first, the shield and health layout is different, which takes some getting used to, and in my opinion isn’t as good, but then its just because I’m very much used to the Halo ‘HUD’.
Now, good things about the game, which to be honest are so numerous, I will just name some of the more noticeable things. The scenery is (ha ha- Rhys) absolutely amazing on the game, although earlier I said about the game feeling a bit claustrophobic because of the weapons, there is a massive sense of space due to some of the maps, they are huge and it must be said that the detail makes them look very beautiful, on one level, you go through some temple wreckage, and I think it looks amazing as I’m sure those who have played it and know which level I mean would agree. Obviously leading on from that, the graphics, they too are in my opinion very good, maybe not the best out at the moment, but certainly up there with the best, as is the A.I. used for both the enemies and your allies, which has to be said is a massive leap from the first game, as usually your allies weren’t the cleverest of characters, being killed within the first minute of reaching them.
The multiplayer has been cleaned up and refined a great deal, the levels are much better, with more features, there are more guns to kill, decapitate, blow up and a sword to cut down with, which is entertaining to use. Although I haven’t got it myself, I have been ensured by a couple of good sources that being able to play it over Xbox live is a very good new feature and enhances the multiplayer side of the game even further.
All in all, I think that Halo 2, although not such a ‘revelation’ in gaming history as its predecessor, it is a worthy follow up game, the multiplayer area of the game is much better in my opinion. The graphics and the scenery is some of the most beautiful to look at. I do think Halo 2 is deserving of as much praise as the first game was. Thanks for reading!
