Very instrumental in the mill, Hudson was the actual owner of it in the early 20th century. (His son Russell took it over in the mid-20th century.) Also described as "a machinist and farmer." Buried in the family cemetery in Arlington. His first wife Eliza is buried in the family cemetery in Arlington. She died at age 36, a day after giving birth to Glenn Jane Fidler (see below). Hudson's second wife Etta is also buried in the family cemetery in Arlington. Note that Hudson's middle name "Vauter" is Mary Jane Hudson Fidler's mother's maiden name. The story is that she descends from the founder of Vauter's Church in Virginia.
