The main goal that I had in mind when creating this webquest was to create a hands-on, interactive, and engaging project that would also align to the NYS Standards in Language Arts.  I have been a Language Arts teacher for many years, and in my opinion, one of the challenges that the standards bring to me as an educator is to find something that will motivate and engage my students as well as incorporate the writing standards.  This project is aligned with standard one of the NYS standards in Language Arts:  Reading, and Writing for information and understanding. 

I have done this project in my class before, not as a webquest, but as a project using catalogs, magazines, and the computer for word processing only.  I wanted to organize and fine tune the process and in addition, add more technology to the project.  My students have always loved this project, and I hope that by sharing this webquest with you, that you and your students will enjoy it, and learn from it as well.
