COURT RECORDS: Peter's name shows up many times on Court records. These records show that Peter lived on the North Fork of Otter River. Court records show that he was on the list of Tithables during the Sept sessions of court in 1765. His name appears in the court records frequently thereafter either in hot water with the King, sueing a neighbor, or being sued. None of the records reveal the nature of the law suits, nor the outcome, except where he was the defendant in the matter with the King. That case was not defined, but it was continued over several courts until the Revolution started. Thereafter, it does not show up again.
LAND RECORD: On June 17, 1766, Peter Harmon recorded in the Bedford County, Deed book his purchase, for Fifty Pounds, t wo hundred acres of land lying on both sides of the North Fork of Otter River. This purchase was from the four hundred acres granted to Alexander Boyle by patent Sept 26, 1760.
LAND RECORDS: On Dec 5, 1786, Peter sold Seventy of his Two Hundred acres to William Crum for Twenty Five Pounds.
LAND RECORDS: On Oct 4, 1787 Peter sold Two Hundred acres to John Salmons for Four Hundred Pounds. (It's believed that Peter has a total of 270 acres at one time)
With the sale and purchase of lands establishes that Peter was the clan Patriarch and moved to Greene County, sometime between Oct 1787 when he sold out in VA and Feb 1791 when he settled in Greene Co. The roaring Fork of Lick Creek area is approx 5 miles northwest of the town of present day Greeneville.
Initial spelling seems to be Harman . Hans seems to have been born in Rotterdam, while his parents were emigrating from Germany to the new world.

Hans Peter Harmon according to an Ancestry World Tree submission was the father of many children: Anna, Anna, Milly, George Charles, Mariah Elizabeth, Phillip, Barbara, John, Thomas, Isaac B., Henry, Sarah, Susannah, Stephen, William, Margaret, Peter, Moses, and Nancy Harmon at least some of which were born in Bedford Co., VA. He, himself, was supposedly born in 1733 in Rottigham, Holland enroute to America. (C-2405, 2416)
