SHE FINISHED PREPARING ONE MEAL AND IMMEDIATELY STARTED THE NEXT "AS IF THERE WAS NO TOMORROW" ACCORDING TO MATILDA CARTER MORGAN. CYENE WADED A SWOLLEN CREEK AND DIED OF CONSUMPTION

Scena married Nathan MORGAN , son of John Randolph Randal MORGAN and Millie PRIVETT , on 24 Nov 1875. Nathan was born on 16 Jul 1849 in Wayne County Kentucky 1 and died on 20 Mar 1938 in Lakeland Hosp (Known As Central State), at age 88. The cause of his death was General Arteriosclerosis.

Betsey or Elizabeth Wayne, County Kentucky Sept 25, age 70 May 4 1832. states that He was drafated in Bedfod Co Va 2-14 for 6 months not long before the battle of Guilford and served under Capt. Daniel Beard, William Ewing, Lieut and Samuel Beard, Ensign and Col. Charls Lynch, and Judge Calloway Major. That first marched to Thomas Leftridges in Bedford Co; thence toward Roanoak Ferry; thence crosssed Dan River toward North Carolina to Haw River, North Carolina, we then being in the neighborhood of the British marched and counter marched sometime until we had the battle of Guilford. With the British commanded by Lord Cornwallis. Our principal General was nathaniel Green, he was at the seige of York. His sadjutant was Richard Stith, Col. William Trigg, we met at Flat Lick in said county, he claims compensation for 8 months. Said he was born in Buckingham, Co VA 1762, where he lived? My father and mother then moved to Bedford Co Va where I lived until I was 50. Then moved to Franklin Co Va where I lived aboaut 7 yars, then moved to Wayne Co Ky where I have lived about 15 years last Marach.

James Piercy, age 70, 4th of May 1832 states that he was drafted in Bedford Co Va not long before the battle of Guilford and served nder Capt. Daniel Beard, Lt. William Ewing, Ensign Samuel Beard and Col Charles Lynch and Major John Calloway. They first marched to Thomas Leftridges in Bedford Co., then to Roanoke Ferry, corsssed the Dan River toward N.C. served in the battle of Guilford with the brittish, commanded by Lord Cornwallis. he claims compensation for 8 months.
I was born in Buckingham Co Virginia in 1762. My faterh and mother then moved to Bedford Co Va where I lived until I was age 50, then to Franklin Co Va for about 7 years then to Wayne Co., KY where I have lived abaout 15 years last March (arrived March 1817).

!Elizabeth or Betsy Piercy widow of the soldier, made appliation for pension in Wayne County Nov 27, 1843 states that she and the soldier were married May 1, 1782 or 1783 in Bedford Co Va and that her husband died 6-23-1843. Said she was born 9-1760; that her husband died 6-3-1843, in Wayne Co. KY. She relies on the records in the clelrk's office of Bedford Co Va and says they were married by preacher Nathan Shrewsbury, died in Wayne Co. KY. She can prove by Mrs. Jane Craig of Wayne County that she was the wife of the said James Piercy for about ten years before the first day of Jan 1794. Her name before marriage was Betsy Smelser. Affidavit of Jane Craig, made 1844, Wayne Co Ky who states that she was well acquainted with Betsy Piercy and knows she was married about ? year after affiant was married. Witness knew her and her husband well in Bedford Co Va and also in Wayne Co Ky until the present time and know her to now be the widow of James Piercy. A certificate or certified copy of the marriage record is filed with the papers as follows: Bedford Co Va In a preacher's return, by Nathaniel Shrewbury, shows the following: James Pearcy and Betsy Smelser were married April 25, 1783. The widow sometimes signed her name "Elizabeth" Percy.
