Randal and his wife, Marry Milsap resided in Fentress County, TN.untilmigrating just across the state line to Wayne County, KY about 1832.Theysettled first at Milsap Mountain where Mary's parents lived. In1834,Randal bought fifty acres on Otter Creek at present day Slickfordfor$40.00 from William Meigs. He was a farmer all his life. The firstoilwell drilled in Wayne County was drilled on his land about theyear,1865. The producers hauled the oil by wagon to the Cumberland Riverandshipped it to Nashville by boat. About 1845, Mary died. Randalmarriedsecond, Millie Privet, or Prewitt. Millie was born in NorthCarolina inabout 1825. This made her about the same age as Randel'soldest daughterSinah. Family tradition says that she worked for Randaland Mary as adomestic helper. After Mary's death, Millie Privitt becameRandal's wife,perhaps by common law. Millie gave birth to seven children,two died inchildhood. One of these children, Milton S. Morgan is thegrandfather ofHershel Morgan. Millie died between 1900 and 1910. Sourceof thisinformation is Hershell Morgan.

General Notes: Millie bore Morgan Hughes an illigetimate son which she namedMorganHughes. Morgan senior refused to acknowledge the child as his,eventhough everyone knew it was true. Randel Morgan, the uncle ofMorganHughes, was very upset with Hughes. When Randal's first wife,MaryMillsap, died about 1844, he married Millie Privett and adoptedtheyounger Morgan Hughes. Granny Pop, Polly Morgan, said that Randallovedthe boy as if he was one of his own children. The boy died around1849 ofconsumption.

Individual:
William was originally from Virginia. He married a member of theRandolphfamily of that state. Her first name is not known. There he andhis wifebuilt a cabin on the Tennessee frontier sometime around the year1800 inpresent day Fentress County. William owned 640 acres in Fentresscountyin the early 1800's, plus two other tracts of 50 acres each. Hepurchased200 acres in Fentress County in 1830 from Robert Boles, andlater sold itto Mitchell Moody on October 11, 1852. Source of thisinformation isHershell Morgan and land deeds that he consulted.
William was a Revolutionary War Veteran ( Myrtle Morgan Koger statesthathe either fought in the Revolutionary War or the War of 1812) and wasinVirginia when the war broke out and afterwards moved to FentressCounty,Tennessee. He received a land grant for military service thatRandalMorgan and Morgan Hughes used in Wayne County. Virginia could notaffordto pay their soldiers, so they were given land grants instead.WayneCounty was part of the area set aside for Virginia Veterans to usetheirland grants. These land grants could be assigned. The originalsettlersof Wayne County were either veterans or their children. Source ofthisinformation is Julia McNeil.
