Intro: BECK is a new anime that came out in Japan about three to four months ago and now is one of my favorite anime's. It's about a boy named Tanaka Yukio, though everyone calls him Koyuki and his way of life. He discovers rock music, meets new people, learns how to play a guitar and joins a band. Not to mention his amazing voice that startles every one when he sings "Face."
Synopsis: Tanaka Yukio (although everyone calls him Koyuki) is 14 years old, an average student, and a nice guy. While walking home from school, he sees some kids picking on some weird looking dog and chases them away when the dog's owner shows up. He meets him again while being out on town with his childhood friend and they slowly become friends. The guy's name is Ryusuke and he plays in an underground rock band. After seeing one of his shows and listening to a Dying Breed song, Koyuki gets really interested in rock music. One day Ryusuke hands Koyuki a beat up acoustic guitar and that's when his music adventures begin.

Main Characters:

Koyuki is the main character of BECK anime, though young and inexperienced he puts in a lot of extra work to achieve any of his goals
Maho is a girl that Koyuki met during her brothers bands performance. Later on they develop a relationship and fall in love.
Ryuske is the most important person to the band. Not only did he start the band, but because he is so good in playing guitar he is the motivation for the band.
Taira plays bass for BECK. He's being described as being really funky. One of the things that are said about his style is "I never knew a Japanese could be this funky" (though I dont understand why). He is also my favorite character in the anime because he plays bass, just like me.
Chiba is the front man for BECK. With lots of charisma and punky voice he attracts audiences. Though for soft rock songs Koyuki replaces him. He is the wacky character that every one loves and if his friends have any troubles he's there for them.
Saku is the drummer. He was learning drums for seven years when he got in BECK. Most importantly he is Koyukis best friend.

The reason I like it is because its about rock music. The best music there is. To see the band interact through the hardships is really interesting and watching Koyuki's determination makes me want to practice more too. Not to mention the high school romance between Koyuki and Maho. The only part thats bad about this show is that sometimes the characters speak in English, or rather Engrish instead of the dialogue being strictly in Japanese.

For now there is only one way to watch BECK and that is to use Bittorrent and download it of the internet. The anime finished airing a long time ago so you shouldn't have any troubule finding a complete series torrent. This anime is definetley worth watching. Tokyopop has also finaly licensed the manga and has released up to volume 2 with release of volume 3 this march. Hopefully the anime is going to follow the same path soon.
