Chuck (Former Cap'N Gruesome Drummer...Mr.Gruesome)

Me:Chuck, Well lets start off with The Gore, The Gruesome, The Cap'N Gruesome. I was a huge fan, which you already know, Just wondering, would you ever actually do another Project with Cap'N Gruesome? if the oppertunity ever arose again.

Chuck:Definitely. I’ve recently been thinking about bringing up the idea of rerecording "Part of this…" and the split songs and releasing a "discography" type deal with Matt, but I haven’t talked to him in a while.

me:and what do you think caused the Demise of Cap'N Gruesome?

Chuck:Laziness and the unhealthy amounts of ass rock Matt was consuming back in the day. It was going in a different musical direction than I would have liked, plus high school was ending and all that shit so we put it to rest.

Me:Do you ever miss The Gore Whores?

Chuck:If it gets cold enough

Me:I loved the drumming on the album(Part of this Complete breakfast), i'm sure you kick even more ass on drums now, how long have you been playing, and also who is the inspiration?

Chuck:I’ve been playing for 7 years now, though my skills have declined after the Gruesome break, since I haven’t been playing as much. Hopefully I’ll get my skills back this summer. As for inspiration, I’m self taught and basically I tried emulating the drummers in the bands I was listening to back then; Most notably ‘Yeest!’ era Blood Duster (Matt Skitz) and Slayer. Nowadays, Hemdale, Burn It Down, Benumb, Dave Witte (Discordance Axis/Black Army Jacket) and some others…

Me:Any new projects in the works? I remember awhile back you sent me a musical sample of a band, is that project still a go?

Chuck:I’ve been having problems with that particular band for awhile now. Mitch and I started jamming together in January 2001 and that summer we recruited Ben to play bass. We played for 3-4 hours once a week for 2 years and managed to write only 2 songs. Most of the time we just got fucked up on cheap amphetamines and jamming, not really writing anything. Then Mitch moved to Philadelphia in sept. 2002 and we haven’t played since, though we are hoping to start regular practices again and play some shows. I’ve also been slowly recording and editing noise together under the name "Mark of the Wounded", which I wanted to release last summer, but laziness forced back. Hopefully, I’ll put some stuff out as far as Mark of the Wounded is concerned in the next couple months.

Me:you have played live a few times as well, what stands out the most to you? when you played live.

Chuck:Probably freaking out, throwing my drum sticks in to the audience and swearing into the mic at the battle of the bands. The firehall show with Richie tossing meat was great. The best show that never happened was the one I was supposed to play in with a band called Dank and it was with, of all bands, Blue Oyster Cult. Of course, that would have been a disaster of epic proportions so I backed out.

Me:if you could tour with any bands/musical acts, who would it/they be?

Chuck:Nightstick, Electric Wizard, Burning Witch (RIP), Grief (RIP), EyeHateGod, Buzzov*en, and Saint Vitus.

Me:What Type of Drums are you playing now days?

Chuck:Still playing the same old ancient Ludwigs that my dad had when he was in college in the 60’s.

Me:do you play any other instruments outside of drums? or are you a drummin man only?

Chuck:I’d play other instruments if I was good at any of them. Unfortunately, I lack… what’s the word… ‘Talent’?

Me:Do you think, Gore and Satanism is used way too much, in Black/Death Metal Music now? I love the gore myself.

Chuck:Gore and Satanism have become run of the mill. I like when bands go outside of the typical evil and gore stuff and atleast make it funny or interesting. Macabre, Circle of Dead Children, Pig Destroyer, and Broken Hope all do it well, as do lots of other bands.

(ok main part gone, fun part starts! give your opinion!)

Me:Punky Brewster.

Chuck:A cartoon and a live action show=complete and utter overkill

Me:Charles Barkley.

Chuck:Shut up and Jam was a sad excuse for a video game.

Me:Fenix TX.

Chuck:Fenix Down.

Me:50 Cent.

Chuck:Necro could rhyme circles around him.

Me:CandleMass

Chuck:Fucking DOOM!!!

Me:Shadows Fall

Chuck:I’m tired.

Me:Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

Chuck:The Xbox game is fucking sweet.

Me:Nintendo Gamecube

Chuck:Ikaruga is possibly the greatest game of all time.

Me:Triple H.

Chuck:Sabu and one triple jump moonsault could end his career.

Me:GodZilla.

Chuck:Megalon

Me:and What Album are you listening to the most as of late?

Chuck:Nightstick-"Ultimatum" and "Blotter", Bottom-"Feels so good when you’re gone", Ninefinger-"Ninefingered", Blood For Blood-"Wasted Youth Brew" and some others. Plus I’m waiting for Enemy Soil "Smashes the State" in the mail, as soon as that arrives, it’ll probably be that for awhile. Other than that, I’ve been listening to various MP3s on my computer; Commit Suicide, Curlupanddie, Acid Bath, Hemdale, Cave In and some others.

Me:Thanks for taking the time to do this interview, any last remarks? thanks Again.

Chuck:Thanks for the interview. Ride the Walrus.
