Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Literary Elements:
Plot
Foreshadowing
Imagery

In most fiction novels, foreshadowing is an incredibly important thing to have. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is no different. Certain things in the book's story kind of hints any reader of what might happen without completely giving away the story.

One such occasion would be the night of the first attack. The cat, the puddle and the blood written message on the wall.

The cat plays into the foreshadowing of the event was because it was paralyzed. Any one whom knows of the mystical creature, the seprent knows that a direct look into the eye of the seprent complete stops the heart of any living thing. However, the cat isnt dead, just paralyzed. This is because the cat saw the seprent's eyes from the puddle of water, and this caused paralysis.

The blood is also a part of the foreshadowing because it stated that those of muggle (non-magical folk) blood that managed to have magical abilites, would be killed, one by one and those whom were enemies of the Heir of Slytherin to beware. Slowly, the seprent only managed to paralyze every muggle blood wizard and witch, and Harry, the sworn enemy of Voldemort, eventually found his nemisis, in the Chamber of Secrets.
