Diary updates
from my 3 months of travel in and around Argentina where I plan to climb the highest mountain outside the Himalayas. Aconcagua stands at 6959m (22,841ft) above sea level and is situated on the border between Argentina and Chile in the Andes Mountain range. In my plans is a visit to the beautiful Patagonia Mountains, Lakes and Glaciers in Southern Argentina and Chile. Keep a track of my progress by visiting this page. This was my Rough Itinery
December 1st-12th
La Plata with my friends. La Plata is 1 hours drive East of Buenos Aires
December 12th-16th
Iguazu, the Waterfalls in the North East of Argentina. The weather here is very very hot at the moment.
December 17th-19th
La Plata again with my friends.
December 20th-22nd
Punta del Este (Uruguay). I am treating my friends to a Holiday with little time they can get off from work here at this beach resort. Apparently for the rich and famous. U'ow.
December 23rd-January 2nd
La Plata again with my friends where I will celebrate Chriasmas and New Year with them.
January 2nd-31st
Mendoza, where I will spend the time climbing Aconcagua, and hopefully make some friends :o)
End of January
When I have finished climbing Aconcagua I telephone Loreley who I will meet at St Luis (A couple hours East on a bus from Mendoza). Where her Uncle has a house and Loreley will have finished her studies.
Beguinning of Feb
Travel back on the Bus to La Plata.
Beguinning of Feb
After return, to La Plata I intend to go and fly to Bariloche on the central West side of Argentina known as the 'Lake district'. Silvina's sister now lives here and another uncle has a hotel where I can stay.
Mid Feb
Maybe arrive back to Buenos Aires for one weekend and go to the carnival town of Gualeguaychu where for the month of Feb there is carnival on the streets every weekend. This is 3 hours north of Buenos Aires by bus. Then fly to El Calafate.
Mid Feb
Or... Fly onwards to El Calafate for 10 days or so in Patagonia. A Place I am really looking forward to visiting, with its many mountains, Glaciers, treks, and wildlife. Here it is very cold and I hope to be Hosteling. During my stay I hope to Fly to Tierra Del Fuego for a couple of days, down the very south of Argentina which is very Beautiful and has the most sothern city in the world, Ushuaia.
End of Feb
Return to La Plata for a bit to see my friends and then Fly back to England on the 28th Feb :o(
