Main
Features
·
DVD-Audio Decoding And Playback via the 6
Channel Audio Outputs. This new audio format, an extension of
DVD-Video technology, fulfills the promise of excellence in
digital audio reproduction. Stereophiles will be delighted by
the resolution and warmth of 2-channel 24-bit 192kHz
recordings. DVD-Audio also includes the capability for
multi-channel audio, creating a new sound palette for jazz
fusion, new age, contemporary urban, and many more genres of
music. Multi-channel audio reproduces the ambience missing
from previous recordings, so listeners can actually hear the
“air” in the theater as the openness and subtle
reflections become more evident. Live recordings sound more
authentic than ever—you’ll hear the audience in the
background and the band onstage. And DVD-Audio supports text
displays, slide show displays, and even full-motion video.
·
Super ColorStream Pro™ Progressive Output offers
significant enhancement to the picture quality of progressive
video outputs. Utilizing a new digital filter, it enables four
times oversampling of color signals, producing unsurpassed
color detail and purity. A 54MHz video encoder ensures low
noise and an artifact-free picture. As a result of these
advancements, player resolution is extended to 540 lines, with
incredible color resolution and picture detail.
·
480-Progressive Signal Output provides
480-line progressive (non-interlaced) full frame resolution
performance to compatible 480-p capable displays. The result
is a more film-like image, with enhanced brightness and
contrast, deeper color resolution and fidelity. As DVDs are
mastered in 480-p, you can enjoy the flicker-free images the
movies are engineered with.
·
High-Mass Vibration Resistant Copper Shielded
Chassis provides distinct sonic and performance
benefits. Damping of vibration is achieved by the increased
mass of the cabinet, and by using specially combined
materials. Because it resists the influence of magnetic flux,
a copper-shielded chassis reduces distortion in the video
image. Sonic performance reveals a distinct absence of
unwanted colorations.
·
ColorStream Pro™ Progressive Component Video
Output delivers the ultimate in DVD picture
performance and integrity to compatible display devices, such
as multiscan-capable Toshiba TheaterWide™ projection
televisions. DVD discs are mastered as 480p signal. Connecting
a DVD player with ColorStream Pro™ to a compatible display
device produces a flicker-free image with enhanced vertical
and temporal resolution. The near film-like images of a 480p
picture are brighter and the 60 frame per second display takes
advantage of the full resolution capability of a DVD disc,
delivering film-like images.
·
Dolby Digital® and DTS™ Optical & Coaxial
Outputs When connected to a receiver or amplifier
with a Dolby Digital or DTS decoder through either the optical
or coaxial digital outputs, you can enjoy the phenomenal
experience of video through five discrete full range channels,
whether for stunning sound effects or crystal clear dialogue.
·
Dolby® Digital (AC-3) Decoder allows you
to experience the thrills of today's stunning Hollywood
soundtracks right in your family room. By decoding five
discrete audio channels, plus a separate subwoofer channel for
dynamic low bass performance, Dolby Digital delivers crisp
dialogue, breathtaking movement across the soundstage, and
thunderous special effects.
·
DTS® Compatibility allows the DVD player
to pickup and output DTS (Digital Theater System) 5.1 channel
audio signals for decoding by DTS-decoding receivers. The
sound of DTS is three-dimensional with a wide dynamic range
and a minimum of compression artifacts.
·
S-Video and Composite Video Outputs provide
connection flexibility in conjunction with the ColorStream®
component video outputs.
·
10-Bit 54 MHz Video D/A Conversion with Super 4:4:4
Processing reduces artifacts, providing an
improvement over conventional systems by a power of four. This
new DAC employs a 54MHz clockspeed, and built-in 4:4:4
filtering to provide unsurpassed color purity, color detail,
and resolution.
·
24-Bit 192 kHz Advanced Delta Sigma Audio DACs designed
in conjunction with Analog Devices ®, produces stunning
resolution from PCM-encoded 24-bit 192kHz content. Dynamic
range levels (the headroom between the quietest and the
loudest elements on the disc) are extended to an incredible
117 decibels, and total harmonic distortion is reduced to less
than 0.0008%. A key element to obtaining this performance is
the adaptive multiport parallel configuration, which allows
two-channel content to be parallel-processed through the three
independent audio DACs. This system is provides the ability to
decode high-resolution 24-bit 192kHz two-channel DVD-Audio
content.
·
3-D Digital Noise Reduction is a
frame-correlative and frame-buffer technology precisely
identifies and digitally filters randomly occurring noise in
the video signal without sacrificing picture detail or
resolution. 3-D DNR reduces the effects of motion-based
artifacts and “blocking noise.” Most important, 3-D DNR
enhances screen transparency and represses image flicker.
·
Angle Viewer allows for increased usability
with Multi-angle encoded DVDs. Scenes in filmed entertainment
may be shot from multiple camera angles, each providing a
unique perspective. DVD allows, at the director's discretion,
up to nine different camera angles to be recorded on a disc.
The Angle Viewer lets you display thumbnail samples from each
available angle on-screen—in conjunction with a live image.
The compass cursor on the remote control allows you to select
the camera angle you prefer to view.
·
Audio Direct/Video On Switch allows you to
turn off the video circuitry when operating the unit as an
audio-only player, reducing cross-talk noise and interference
from video signal processing.
·
Discrete Internal Circuitry provides less
noise, higher fidelity, and cleaner signal paths by physically
separating the power supply, digital circuitry, and analog A/V
processors within the chassis.
·
Dolby Digital® 5.1 Channel Surround Sound
Compatibility delivers all the incredible sound that
Hollywood can put on a DVD to a receiver equipped with a Dolby
Digital decoder. Dolby Digital provides six separate discrete
audio channels: left, right and center front, right and left
surround, and a low frequency subwoofer channel as a listener
option. Dolby Digital is the first perceptual coding scheme
designed specifically to code multichannel digital audio. It
divides sizes optimized with respect to the frequency
selectivity of human hearing. This makes it possible to
sharply filter coding noise and reduce data consumption while
delivering dynamic theater quality sound. Unlike Dolby
Pro-Logic surround, Dolby Digital channels are entirely
discrete, with five full frequency (20-20KHz) channels and one
low frequency effects subwoofer (20-120Hz) channel. DVD
players with Dolby Digital capability are also compatible with
Pro-Logic surround and two channel stereo systems.
·
Metal Faceplate enhances overall chassis
stability while providing long-term elegance.
·
Virtual Remote Control allows one to simply
press the VIRTUAL key on the handheld remote control which
displays a Virtual Remote Control on-screen, overlapping a
portion of the video display. The user may navigate the
optional commands of the “Virtual Remote” by pressing the
compass cursor keys and the ENTER key on the handheld remote.
Besides basic playback commands, the user may display the
operating status of the player and change languages. This
feature is ideal for basic menu navigation in a low-light home
theater environment, and is also a positive enhancement for
people who require a larger visual display to execute
commands.
