8-13-04 I've returned to the mess of a website that I put out of my mind. I may change it; in changing it I may improve it. No more guestbook, no more blog. Just, I think, a few writings; with the difference that I subject them to additional scrutiny prior to posting them.

"The poet makes himself a seer through a long, prodigious, and rational disordering of all the senses." - Arthur Rimbaud

"Make a poem the way nature makes a tree." - Vicente Huidobro

“It’s possible that I shall make an ass of myself. But in that case one can always get out of it with a little dialectic. I have, of course, so worded my proposition as to be right either way.” - Karl Marx in a letter to Engels

"We had no respect for traditional wisdom or the restraint of custom. . . . It did not occur to any of us to respect the extraordinary accomplishment of our predecessors in the ordering of life (as it now seems to me to have been) or the elaborate framework they had devised to protect this order." -- John Maynard Keynes

"Don't they know we're bringing them the plague?" -- Sigmund Freud to Carl Jung on the boat to America
