Gunfighter!
This is the second mission for the Blue Moon missions.
Explanation
After saving and seeing the storyline dialouge, you are sent to the second mission where you get to face a new CO, Grit. Grit is a expert marksman that has a bonus for all of his indirect combat units. In addition, his indirect combat units get a +1 attack range, and when Grit uses his CO power his range and power increases even further. NOw that I have explained the situation a little, I'll get to explaining the strategy. Grit has troops surrounding you, with his main forces composed mostly of indirect combat units and tanks. There is also a sectioned off territory to the north of your camp that he has deployed four infantry towards. In the section, there's about 4 cities that are valuable resources to keep your forces going. In the first couple of turns, you will need to do the following:
- Priority one: In the first couple of days, produce only infantry and mechs to send to the north (also one into the APC to go to the city in your space). Keep a constant flow of infantry/mechs going to the north until you have about six (in three days). You will want to be agressive in capturing the cities and fighting his men, as he doesn't attack your troops that are capturing cities, and he has no bases. Once you have captured the cities and eliminated his infantry units, you'll be ready for an all side assault.
- Priority two: You will need to firstly have your tank block the entrance in (before the 1 square passage, otherwise it'll get hit by a rocket) and back it up with the APC and Artillery. When your tank is low on health, heal it in the nearby city and back it up with another tank that you can produce or you can just sacrifice your APC. After you have produced your final set of infantry, you should proceed to build swarms of tanks and a couple Md tanks (or just go beserk with your tanks) and line up your tanks so they're just outside the rocket's range. Do the same for your infantry. When everything is crowded just outside the attack range, charge with everything and overwhelm the two rockets with targets so that you will be free to wipe them out next turn. The infantry are used as bait, but if they reach the rockets alive, they can help destroy it (especially the with the mechs).
After you overwhelm the enemy with a giant assault, you will easily defeat the remaining forces. Of course, there are more defensive and conservative ways to do the level, but this is the way I've developed and played it.
