Turning on your Game Boy Advance

Hopefully, you people know how to do this, so I won't go into thorough detail. All you do is find the switch on the bottom of the screen and flick it to the ON position. If the Nintendo logo doesn't show up, reinsert your game pack and make sure the batteries are good. Try again. If it still doesn't work, go call Nintendo about it.

    Entering your information

The instructions are pretty easy to understand, but here goes: When she asks for your name, you put your NAME. After entering your name, you go through a training session. This guide won't cover that, but I suggest that you go all the way through it and complete all of the missions. If you want to be a lazy bum, or you already know how to play, just beat the last mission to unlock the rest of the options.

    Storyline

This game takes place in an imaginary world which is a giant continent. There are four major nations at power in this supercontinent, and they are named Orange Star, Blue Moon, Yellow Comet, and Green Earth. They all lived together peacefully for awhile until the Commanding Officer, or CO, from Blue Moon invaded Orange Star. His name was Olaf. That's where you come in. Starting from the first level, you fight back the Blue Moon army with Andy, your CO, as a part of the Orange Star army. As you push the Blue Moon army back, you discover alot of soap opera behind the battles, like how all the COs are friends yet they still fight each other. By the time you reach Green Earth, you discover how all of the different countries think that Andy invaded them, and so all of them attack you ass you approach their country. This story leads into a conspiracy when you discover an evil madman has made clones of Andy to attack the different countries and start hostilities. As you discover more and more, two of the COs (Grit and Sonja) are working behind the scenes to pull the madman out of hiding. As they do, all the COs discover that the entire conflict was to trap them right there so he could get rid of them once and for all so he can take over the world.

    Main Screen Options

    1. Campaign Mode

This is the main option for the game. It will take you through the standard campaign that goes through the storyline and after you beat it you can unlock new COs at Hachi's shop.

    2. Field Training

If you took my advice and went all the way through this, you will have nearly no reason to visit unless you forget some tactics or you want to try the new Mission available.

    3. Battlemaps

This is the shop of Hachi, a retired soldier. You can buy new maps from him ranging from 4 coins to 10 coins. Also, you can enlist new COs here you can use in the war room and in VS. and Link Modes.

    4. Design Maps

This is where you can design your own maps and battle scenarios. Press Select or A for options, L for Units and Buildings, and R for terrains.

    5. Statistics

This is where you can see your score for various War Room Missions. Also, you can see your rank and your total Campaign score. Your rank goes up as you collect more coins. I'm not sure yet if you get something for being the highest rank (called a Gold Dragon).

    6. War Room

This is the final option. Like in Campaign mode, you get to battle different COs and you get coins if you win. However, you do not get the enjoyable storyline that comes along with Campaign Mode. This section is merely for collecting coins and testing your tactics.

    Link Mode

This category is for linking with your friends to do one of the following 3 options: Single Pak, Multi-Pak, and Trade Maps. The first two options are for battling your friends instead of a computer. In Single Pak, there is only one Advance Wars pack and you and your friend can still battle. However, the options are limited to none and there are no animations. This option is if you are willing to buy the GBA link but not another game pack. With Multi-Pak, there are many more options and you have all the choices of VS. mode. This option is HIGHLY recommended over Single Pak and it is worth the $35.00. The final option, Trade Maps, needs two game packs and the idea is that you can trade maps you have designed or bought from Hachi with your friends. This is OK if you and your friends are really into trading things.

    1. Blue Moon Missions

      1. It's War!
      2. Gunfighter!
      3. Air Ace!

At this point, you can take two different roads. If you use Andy in Max Strikes! then you will get his missions rather than if you use Max for Max Strikes! Also, if you use Max in Max Strikes! rather than Andy, you'll get Grit rather than Max for the Final Battle.

        Max's route

        1. Max Strikes!
        2. Max's Folly?

    2. Yellow Comet Missions

      1. Kanbei Arrives!
      2. Mighty Kanbei!
      3. Kanbei's Error?

There are a set of secret missions that come with the Yellow Comet Missions. This is where you get to travel to the three smaller islands of Yellow Comet to face Sonja with Andy, Sami and Max. The way to reach these secret missions and be able to buy Sonja from Hachi is to beat the first three Yellow Comet missions in a certain time limit. The first one, Kanbei Arrives! needs to be beaten in 8 days, the second in 10 days, and the third in 12 days. If you can accomplish this, you will be able to buy Sonja from Hachi after you beat the final boss and get to play against her in the campaigns.

        Sonja's Missions

      4. Divide and Conquer!
      5. Sami Marches On!
      6. Sonja's Goal!

    3. Green Earth Missions

In the Green Earth missions, you have a three way option of what to pick and this will affect who your ally is to the left. If you use Andy for all 4 missions, you will be able to use Drake on the Final Battle and you will be able to buy him from Hachi. If you use Sami for all 4 missions (the hardest) you will be able to use Eagle on the last mission and you will have to play another mission after the Final Battle to be able to buy Eagle from Hachi. If you use Max for all 4 Green Earth missions, you will only be able to use Sami on the Final Battle (highly discouraged) and you won't unlock anything at all.

      1. Captain Drake!
        1. Andy
        2. Max
        3. Sami
      2. Naval Clash!
        1. Andy
        2. Max
        3. Sami
      3. Wings of Victory!
        1. Andy
        2. Max
        3. Sami
      4. Battle Mystery!
        1. Andy
        2. Max

      Conspiracy Theories

This section is devoted to all of the conspiracy theories behind this game, and all of the underlying messages. If you have any suggestions that aren't already here, you can e-mail me at baoiswrong@yahoo.com . Otherwise, just enjoy.

      Conspiracies

      • Firstly, the different names of the countries and their respective COs are based on real countries. Orange Star has Andy and Max and Sami, and always seems to be the good guy. Max is a real soldier and is all about power. This therefore qualifies Orange Star as the U.S.A. Blue Moon forces are led by Olaf, who is good in the snow but weak in the rain. They seem to attack out of greed, and although they attack Orange Star, they are still friends (at least Grit is). Grit's specialty is in-direct combat, using missiles and torpedoes. This could qualify Ble Moon as Russia, as their troops are literally trained in the snow and they have all sorts of ballistic rockets. On to Yellow Comet. I don't really need to explain this one that much. Yellow Comet is off the shore of the main land, and it is made up of one large island and three smaller ones. If you turn up the music in the game while playing Kanbei, you can easily hear the oriental sound to it. They attack Orange Star unprovoked and before asking questions. If you have any sense at all, you could see that this is the equivalent of Japan. Finally, good ol' Green Earth, with its powerful navys and air forces. They would be allied with Orange Star but they think that Andy attacked them. When Drake's around, it rains alot, and the name of their country is Green Earth. Sound familiar? Why, it's good ol' England!

      • The next thing that just seems like the designers were trying to say it but they couldn't deals with how this fifth party acts underground and makes swift and precise attacks. I'm talking about how they put Black Hole in there. Now, if you apply all of the countries to their respective names here, it would look like this:

U.S.A. gets invaded by Russia. As U.S.A. fights back, they go on to Japan and get attacked as they were planning to pass through. Everybody seems to think that the U.S. attacked them first, but on the U.S.A. side they were the victims. U.S.A. is outmaneuvered and gets isolated by an intelligent Japanese officer. They luckily escape and move on to their newfound enemy England. There the navy officer, with the help of the COs of the U.S.A. convince the air force CO that it was not the U.S. that attacked them. As they discover that the U.S.A. did not attack, that same intelligent Japanese officer takes the air force CO and shows him the true enemy. England and the U.S. take the first victory against the true enemy. The U.S. is alone after that, but defeats the true enemy once again. As U.S., Russia, and Japan get lured into their final trap, they join ranks and use their combined power to defeat the true enemy once and for all. Now, you may ask, who is this "true enemy"? Well, It could be drugs. Or it could be alcohol. Or it could be a secret conspiracy to take over the world. Or it could just be Germany. Yes, my friends, this "true enemy" is Germany. And Sturm, who do you think Sturm is? Well, he's Hitler, of course. You can therefore draw out that this game is just a weak representation of WW2, in the fact that it uses the same characters and somewhat the same storyline, but they edited it to make it look like the U.S. was never bad, and this was all done by Hitler. Another bad part about the copying is that Japan was allied with Germany. In this game, however, Hitler takes the unknown daughter of the CO hostage and appears with an incredibly powerful army, which the three countries unite to take out oh so patriotically.
