St.Chad, Bishop:This ancient and interesting symbol has been used for Chad in his own Kingdom and Diocese of Mercia (the modern-day Diocese of Lichfield) for as long as anyone can remember. It may be found in Lichfield Cathedral.
St.Cuthbert, Bishop:Cuthbert was Bishop of Lindisfarne, and later became Bishop of Durham. His Coat of Arms is based on that of Durham, but with a different cross, and with the colours of cross and lions reversed.
Arms containing blue are shown twice. The darker shade is the “true” colour, but the lighter shade is often better when reproduced on a colour ink-jet printer.
