St.Aidan, Bishop:The Holy monk of Iona who did such stirling work in the Kingdom of Northumbria, and became Bishop of Lindisfarne. This symbol has long been used for Aidan, who brought the Gospel’s light to so many peoples previously in darkness.
St.Anthony of Egypt:The founder of monasticism in the Christian tradition bears as his symbol the Tau Cross. The Tau is an ancient Egyptian symbol, and Anthony’s hermitage was in the Egyptian desert. It’s cross properties clearly speak of the Lord Jesus.
Arms containing blue are shown twice. The darker shade is the “true” colour, but the lighter shade is often better when reproduced on a colour ink-jet printer.
