San Jose, California
It is the beginning of the
second season under Gm Mark Weston, we all hope it has better results
than his inaugural season. The biggest offseason news has to be the
relocation to the sunny city of San Jose. "We felt the opportunity
to move cities and have a fresh start was too good to turn down" Gm
Weston said.
The Hawks from last year are
basically the same team that is now wearing the Teal for 2003/2004. Some
key additions are defenceman Glen Wesley - picked up through free
agency, left winger Mike York - acquired through a deal with Phoenix,
and backup goaltender Martin Prusak - selected in the 2003 draft.
Even before the season had
begun, it was rumored that Gm Weston was shopping around one of his top
6 Dmen, looking to acquire some much needed offence. The Sharks have a
solid top 6 on the blueline and could afford to move one for the right
deal. The Sharks D consists of - Pronger - Tanabe - Witt -
Warrener - Wesley - Doig, players such as Olausson, Ferguson and Benysak
look to get first crack on any opening back there.
Look for the Sharks to make
some deals and hopefully put a better product out there on the ice for
the fans of San Jose to enjoy.
