Welcome to Mymsin Japanese Shiba Inu

This is George (Mymsin Ichiro).   He has now gone to his new home.   The first of the pups to leave.   His new people are a lovely couple and he has settled in really well.   Here is a photo of the girls Kimi and Chieko

Yoshi Has Pups 11/12/11

Yoshi is now three years old and I wanted a little girl to show so I mated her to Taro (Mymsin Kentaro).   He has sired a few litters and all were beautiful reds.   This time he was true to form and we have two beautiful little girls and one handsome boy.   The pups in the photo are four days old.   They are now 14 days and have trebled their weight and are all clear reds.   The dark mask will fade and the full uragiro (white) markings will come through within the next few weeks.   My little girl Aka Momo (red flower) opened her eyes today (26/12/2011) and the others should open theirs shortly.  People are visiting them now and Yoshi is allowing some to stroke the heads of her babies.   The little boy will go to a couple who have been waiting two years for one of my boys and I have yet to decide who will have the  other little girl.

Yoshi is now getting down to her job as Mother.   I was worried at first because she seemed to be very hard on her pups.   It turns out that she was potty training them.   At the grand old age of three weeks they run to the newspaper as soon as they wake and do a wee.   Once she had that established she moved on to training them to use the dog flap.   The boy has graduated and he can go out into the run in the garden on his own.   She stands at the top of the little ramp I have and lifts the dog flap on her head and encourages the babies to climb up the ramp one side and down the other.   When they try she gives them a milk feed.   It is amazing to see her teaching them with the reward or punishment programme.   I would never make a pup cry but they don’t seem to hold it against her and now she cuddles them just as much as any of my other bitches.   I think perhaps she was a bit frightened of the noise they made at first – after all she was a maiden bitch.   Here she is holding the flap up for the pups.

I will update the photos from time to time.

About  Me

Taro, Mitzi & Me

My name is Mym Clews and I have bred, shown, judged and most of all, loved the Shiba since it came to this country in 1985.   I try to breed to the Nippo standard and specialize in clear red which is, after all the most desired colour in Japan.

Sadly my husband and soulmate of 46 years passed away on 8th September 2009.   He had metastatic cancer of the colon.   He will be sadly missed by not only me but by friends throughout the world.   I just do not know how I could have coped without my Shibas who made me get up in the mornings and carry on with life.

I share my home with five Shibas and we live in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, England.   As I breed rarely the main purpose of this web will be to give help and advice wherever possible.

A short time ago  my website crashed and I am now in the process (slow) of reconstructing it.   Please have patience with me.

Mymsin History is the story of my involvement with Shibas.

Living With Shibas is where you will find help and advice on all aspects of owning and training them.

West Wittering  is where we go for our holidays

Homeopathy is an ongoing thing and I will add to it when I have more information.

Shibas & Friends is just what it says - photos of my shibas, their owners and their friends.

What If?  is the page where you tell me your problems and I try to sort them out to give help to others.

This website is a live thing and I will appreciate feedback and any useful info you may have to pass on.

I will try to give you some idea of the essence of the shiba and in these pages you will find contacts with other shiba owners, homeopathic tips and photos of my Shibas past and present and their friends.
One of my hobbies was breed note correcpondant to OUR DOGS  www.ourdogs.co.uk .This is a very useful site for all dog lovers and well worth a visit.   There you will find archive info on show results, critiques and back copies of my notes.   Since I lost my Pete I have less time for showing and therefore felt I could not do justice to a weekly column so I have handed it on to Belinda Roskell who is a committee member of our Club, The Japanese Shiba Inu Club Of Great Britain.   The Secretary is Karen Jones (karen@almolka.co.uk )

I use Breeders Assistant by Tenset to keep a detailed Shiba Database.
My first Champion was Mymsin Amai (Amy).   I would like to thank Debbie Mulligan, Chris Thomas and Keith Nathan for giving Amy her Title.   Since then she has won 9 Best Bitch and 1 Best of Breed without Challenge Certificates on offer and 8 Best Bitch and 1 Best of Breed and Utility Group 2 at Championship shows with Challenge Certificates on offer. We decided to retire Amy after she had done so much for us.
