CQ FIELD DAY from W A 1 A R
What would happen if all major forms of communications went down, including cell phones, internet, etc? Amateur (ham) radio operators always rise to the occasion when they are needed to assist in providing emergency communications. Every year for 73 years, amateur radio clubs sharpen their skills by setting up radio stations in a field under battery or generator power. We make contacts in a contest-like setting. We exchange a short message indicating the amount of transmitters, power level, and location before moving on to the next contact. Here are some pictures and a video of some of the activities that the Wide Area Amateur radio Network were involved in. Enjoy. The pictures when clicked on, open a new windows.
