Subject: William McELWAIN
My Gr Grandfather WILLIAM McELWAIN was born 1865 in Baillieborough, Co Cavan, Ireland. I have not as yet been able to find when he arrived in Australia.
His parents were JAMES MCELWAIN & MARY ANN PARKER. There were two unnamed siblings and two brothers, ROBERT MCELWAIN & THOMAS MCELWAIN. I do not know what happened to them. Their mother died in 1879 from diabetes and associated illnesses.
WILLIAM MCELWAIN married ANNIE EVANS in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia. They had 6 children, one boy, 5 girls. He was Head Ganger for Victoria Rail for quite a long time. Any help would be appreciated.

I haven't been researching for about 10 years but yesterday "spent all day"
on the internet and found your information on the McElwain's. My name is
Michelle McElwain Craft, my GGG Grandparents are Alexander & Frances
McElwain from County Cork Ireland. I have the same story you have of
Frances's voyage from Ireland however nothing on Alexander. Have you found
anything more on him?
I'm also looking for pictures of Alexander & Frances McElwain
their son Michael & Amelia McElwain
their son Silas & Anna Holland.
I have extensive information on the Holland's if this is of any help to you.
