1964 Gibson Southern Jumbo
This is a 1964 Gibson Southern Jumbo I bought from Elderly Instruments in 1984 for $350 (THOSE days are gone!). I called them up one day, asked what they had for Gibson acoustics, and the guy said they had a '64 SJ. I was familiar with the model, as my father had bought a new one around '63. I bought it "over the phone", and I've never regretted it. It's mostly original. The tuners had been replaced with Grovers, but I have since put an original set of rusty old Klusons on it. It originally came with an adjustable bridge, but someone replaced it with a "normal" bridge. The intonation was off, so I relocated the saddle (betcha can't tell!). I made a brass truss rod cover for it, and had my initials engraved in it. The top is still flat, the neck set is super nice... it's just a nice old Gibson!
