Workshop on Organising Successful Election Campaigns

In our rabidly changing world, running successful campaigns is an important determinant of electoral success for political parties and candidates.  Therefore, organisations that are serious about getting the maximum voter recognition at the polls pay much attention to organising successful election campaigns.

Organising successful election campaign is one of the areas where we have excelled in areas where we ventured into the political field. In a number of countries, we have vast experiences in election campaign.  The most recent were the experiences of both Malaysia and Bangladesh in forming political alliances and mobilising support along across different political divides.  This is a point of strength of and it needs to be sustained and improved upon.

It is as a result of this that we are organising a workshop on organising successful election campaigns, between 1-3 July 2004, in the United Kingdom.

The workshop would draw field experts from the following counties: Malaysia, Pakistan, Egypt, Bangladesh, Turkey, Kuwait, Lebanon, Jordan, Algeria, Nigeria and Indonesia.

Besides exchanging ideas on election mobilisation and campaign techniques, the workshop will also feature expert presentations in the following areas:

Developing a Unique Selling Proposition for Party and Candidates

Writing Winning Election Manifestoes

Alliance Building: Getting others to do your work

Packaging Candidates

Election Monitoring

For Whom: For the success of the programme, we are expecting only people who are directly responsible for organising election campaigns for the organisation to attend.  As the sessions would essentially be participatory, each participant would perform the roles of teacher and student at the same time.  As teachers, participants would take turns to share their experience.  As students, they will listen to the experience of others and see what they could learn and take home for future implementation.  This is why  the participant should be the main person or one of those responsible for election campaigns.  Selecting the right person, therefore, is critical the success of the programme.

Arrival: Friday July(  ), 2004

Cost: £{      }  (to cover accommodation, feeding and conference materials)
