Bon Jovi rock to help others
FORMER rock bad boys Bon Jovi gave a dynamite 90-minute show at Colonial Stadium last night.
Jon Bon Jovi and his band were in Melbourne for only one concert, but it was a show to remember with the New Jersey singer and actor pouring his heart out to more than 35,000 ecstatic fans.
It was hoped the evening would raise more than $500,000 for the Universal Charity Appeal, which supports emergency services nationwide.
Earlier in the night, Zed, Primary, local act the Mavis's, Grinspoon and Jimmy Barnes also did their bit.
The show started modestly at 5pm with Zed. By the time Grinspoon took the stage, the ground and stands were filled with screaming, fist-waving fans.
Additional screens were used to televise performances to other areas of the stadium and St John Ambulance officers were kept busy treating fans suffering from dehydration and heat exhaustion.
The concert will be televised by Channel 7 next month.
My Review!
Here is my review that i sent out to the Bon Jovi mailing lists.
OMG! What a NIGHT!!!
Well Zed came on about 5 followed by Primary, The Mavis's and Grinspoon,
which was then followed by an AMAZING performance by Jimmy! OMG, what a man,
i was planning on saving all my energy up for the boys but how could you not
go crazy to that performance!
Now onto the boys!
OMG!! Well after waaaayyyy too many "Hey, one two, hey"s from the sound
check man the lights finally went down and the big screen then focused on
all the boys walking out onto the stage (i don't know about you, but did
they did they stop for a toilet break in between walking to the stage and
actually getting on the stage?!!! LOL seems like there was a big gap when
nothing happened!) well then they went right into One wild night, which was
followed by a WHOLE night of Rockers! No slow songs at all, a very wild
crazy performace!
Jon was FILLED with energy from the start and seemd AMAZED and VERY happy
with the cowds participation. He really seemed like he was having a great
time and did the "Funky chicken" dance but after picking on himself and
saying he couldn't dance he stopped!
Richie was a god as usual and was in a great mood, when Jon did his
"Johnny's church of rock n roll' talk he was doing his "Ahem Joooonnnny!"
thing, which was very cute!
I couldn't really tell much about Tico and Dave as the stage was very high
and you couldn't see to much when you where front row.
Jon was wearing Gold pants and skin tight funny patern top and a denim
jacked, he later changed the top to a see through shirt.
Richie had on a maroon leather jacket but took that off and was just in a
black sleeveless shirt and black leather pants, Tico had on a black top and
white pants, Dave was all in black and Hugh had on a maroon top and i didn't
really see his pants but looked very "cool" in those sunnies!
Jimmy joined them for a few songs which was
amazing! They did "good times" "ride the night away" and "twist and shout"
and was Jimmy there for "Tequila?" i can't remember!
I managed to get a few smiles from
Jon and a nod too! Jon put the Aussie flag on and danced around for a few
songs which was great to see and he danced with and kissed a girl, but i
can't remember what song that was too, i think he gave another girl on the
other side a kiss too.
Definantly ONE WILD NIGHT!
