Thank you for visiting the EQUINE ENTERPRISES home page! EQUINE ENTERPRISES was created in 1991 by Jennifer Allain (a self confessed "horsenut") to assist novice horse enthusiasts in Maine. Since most horse owners do not have professional trainers on staff and keep their horses at home, a way was needed to get advice and training assistance without having to ship these horses to an outside facility. EQUINE ENTERPRISES was designed to fill that need so that Maine horse owners can keep their horses at home and still get the help they need with training issues, riding lessons, and pre-purchase evaluations. In other words, we come to you!


Why get a pre-purchase evaluation? Novice horse owners often trust a horsey friend or relative to help them make the important decision on what horse to buy. Emotion can often get in the way of making a sound choice. EQUINE ENTERPRISES will perform a comprehensive pre-purchase evaluation based on the horse's training, conformation, and behavior to keep the guesswork out of deciding which horse to buy.


In 1998, EQUINE ENTERPRISES added clinics to the list of professional services offered. Now, over 10 topics covering most general horse-related topics are available at very reasonable rates to horse clubs, pony clubs, 4-H clubs, and other groups interested in learning more about horses. Why should our group offer clinics? First, clinics are an excellent opportunity to educate all club members about a specific topic at the same time. Second, many clubs have used clinics as fund-raising opportunities. By contracting with EQUINE ENTERPRISES to offer the clinic, then charging admission to members and guests, a club can stand to add hundreds of dollars to their treasury as well as learn more about the horses they love!

A new service being offered for 2000 is the business consultation service. New horse business owners may want to explore such topics as start-up funding, facility design, and livestock acquisition but are not sure where to turn for help. EQUINE ENTERPRISES can objectively help with the decision making at a critical time in business development.
