My Rant

Ok, I was at the Minnesota State High School Chess Tournament, where single matches can take up to three hours long, so I get bored. The tournament is at my school, so I can easily get back and forth stopping home, and bringing stuff as well. I decide to bring my TV and Nintendo 64 to relieve sanity and boredom. We put in Super Smash Brothers because it is a fun game, and four people can play it. Almost immediately all these little kids come swarming around asking to play. Me being the overly nice guy I am allow them to play. More and more kids come over, and starts to get out of hand. All they do is get into arguments about who is the best character, and how good their skills are. "I can beat three level nine characters on a team, to me it's simps!" Yes I swear he said simps, that's not a typo. These kids feel there needs to be some "order", so they decide to make a sign-up sheet to see who gets to play next. They form their own little government, and don't even ask me, and they know who owns the system and TV, because I wore my "Ice Cream Man" shirt, and who can forget that? Anyway, I sit down and start to play, and these kids crowd around me. They aren't even playing, but want a better view of the screen. No "excuse me" or "I'm sorry", just more pushing. So I only got to play 3 times in the nine hours I was there the first day. Yes, this is a two-day thing. At the beginning of the next day, I don't bring my TV yet, but I do see another team bring a TV and games, but they have a sign saying only their team can play it. Why didn't I think of that? It was too late for anything like that, so we got bossy when we wanted to play. Unfortunately, it did not make them leave. Even the other team with the sign had trouble keeping them away during matches. They put the sign on their PS2, so the kids start playing the N64 because "They thought it was for the PS2." These kids are extremely spoiled. And these are the people that will be our leaders, because they're all nerds, just like me. All they do is play Chess, Magic: The Gathering, and Nintendo. I bet these kids get everything they want, and play so much that they don't even know what a football looks like. I played against some of the "nerdier" kids, and they kicked my ass. Now, I'm naturally good at video games, and I don't even own SSB, but I got my ass handed to me by some 4 foot tall nerd in a sweater and corduroy pants. These people are the future of America. The will be our mayors, governors, and presidents. If they can't learn to share, we will be in trouble. I am in fear of what the future of America holds for us.
