Scene Eight

Nancy is in a car driving. She passes a welcome to Springwood sign. Nancy is almost falling asleep. They see signs of people. They see young kids playing hopscotch, and jumping rope. Nancy looks over and starts crying. Then there is a kid in the middle of the road, she has to swerve and stop short to miss him. Nancy rushes out of the truck to check and see if the kid is alright. She rushes and checks the kid for bruises and scratches.

Nancy
Oh my God, I'm so sorry, are you okay.

Kid
Yeah, I'm fine.

CUT

Nancy is in a Denny's. She is sitting down eating food and drinking coffee.

Voice
Nancy?

Nancy turns. We see the owner of the voice is Mrs. Delaney.

Nancy
Mrs. Delaney, I haven't seen you in so long.

Mrs. Delaney
Nancy, what are you doing back here?

Nancy
I was put on a leave of absence from work, I decided to come home.

Mrs. Delaney
Well, if you want to get together later, give me a call.

Nancy
Okay.

Still in the Denny's, focus in on a bunch of teenagers at another table. We see Jonathan among them. The others are ASHLEY SHINELER, MANDY MANDALA, CHRISTINA ALLENS, TREVOR BRYANS, and GABRIEL BURNSON.

Jonathan
Listen to me, I'm still having the nightmares, dammit, we're not crazy.

Ashley
Jonathan, I haven't been sleeping, but I'm starting to think that this is nuts. We can't live like this anymore.

Mandy
I just think we're being delusional.

Christina
Yeah, that's all this is just a group delusion.

Trevor
We were all having it before the others knew what the fuck was going on, we're not crazy. This fucker, whoever he is, is after us.

Gabriel
Maybe the girls are right, maybe we are crazy.

Trevor lifts his pant leg, we see four cuts, beginning to scar, perfectly horizontal, on his leg.

Trevor
Yeah, well what do you call this?

Gabriel
How do we know that you didn't do that to yourself and you're passing it off as the gloved fucker?

Nancy hears glove she looks over and sees Trevor's leg. She gasps. and, she gets up and walks over. She turns to Trevor.

Nancy
Who did that to you?

Trevor
Oh...uh...it happened in my sleep. I sleepwalk sometimes.

Nancy(more forcefully)
WHO did that?

Jonathan
Pardon my impoliteness, but who the fuck are you?

Nancy
My name is Nancy Thompson, I used to live here. Who did that to your leg? [she lifts her sleeve showing us the scars on her arm she recieved in the dream hospital in Nightmare 1] The same person who did this to me?

Trevor
Depends on who that is.

Nancy
I can tell you who he is. His face is burned, he wears a dirty red and green sweater, and an old dirty brown hat. He has a glove with knives for fingernails.

Jonathan
How do you know about him?

Nancy
I was the first to fight him.

Ashley
You guys this is getting to weird for me, I'm going.

Ashley gets up, Mandy and Christina follow her out the door.

CUT

Ashley is dropping off Mandy, we can see she already dropped off Christina.

Mandy
Does what that lady said back there get to you?

Ashley
No, I have finally realized we're imagining this, I think it might be acid flashbakcs or something. All of us dropped it that one time.

Mandy gets out of the car

Ashley[cont.]
Bye, Mandy.

Mandy
Bye, Ash.

CUT

Ashley is in her house, she's obviously getting ready to go to sleep. She brushes her hair puts it up and lays down on her bed, and goes to sleep.

CUT

Ashley is now standing up in front of an old house, the 'Freddy House'. She looks up at it. She sees Glen on the porch.

Glen
I would highly advise you not to set foot in that house.

Ashley
This is just a dream, I can do whatever I want.

Glen
Fine, go in the house, I just want you to know, that if he gets you, your curse is to try to keep people out of this house forever. Like me. I remember when my girlfriend lived in this house, Nancy, you met her today. Damn, I never thought that He'd inhabit it. I used to climb up a rose trellis and sneak into her room at night. I lived across the street.[He starts tearing up]

Ashley
I really don't want to hear about your sex life, anyways this is only a dream, it isn't real.

Glen
If it makes you feel better to say that, by all means go ahead. But remember, I warned you.

Ashley goes up to the house and opens the door. She goes inside. And the door slams

Ashley claws at the door in a desperate attempt to get free. She hears an evil laugh, she looks to the top of the stairs and sees FRED KRUEGER.

Ashley[screaming]
Oh my God! Help me somebody please!

Ashley runs away, she runs to a window, and breaks through the pane, only to see boards behind it, she pushes and tries to get out, but can't. She runs, upstairs to a hall she sees a dead end and turns around seeing bricks. She bangs on them in an attempt to get free.

Freddy
You wouldn't believe how easy it is to do that trick. I hear you don't think I'm real, bitch. Well, how's this for reality.

Freddy slashes her arm. She screams from the pain.

Freddy
I don't think reality has gotten through your thick head.

Freddy slashes her throat. He just laughs. Then he begins slashing her over and over, finally gutting her, from end to end. Ashley falls the floor, dead and a bloody mess.

Freddy
Reality's a bitch ain't it.
