ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Levi was one of the five original settlers that went ahead of the rest of the Scioto Company to build the
community of Worthington, arriving 18May1803. [1]   He and Charlotte were married in a dual wedding, along
with Abner, his brother, & Polly Morrison.   The four were the first to be married in the new community
only four days after the organization of the church in the newly constructed meeting house. [1][2][3]
On 12Aug1805 Levi was elected ensign of the Sharon Twp Light Infantry Company of the 2nd Division
of the 4th Ohio Brigade, his brother, Abner P. Pinney, being elected captain. [4]
Levi served as a captain in the 1st Ohio Regiment under Col. Duncan McArthur
during the War of 1812.   He was captured by the British and Indians at Detroit
on 16Aug1812 when General Hull surrendered. He was paroled and returned to Worthington
in Dec 1812. [3]   He was co-executor of his father -in-law’s, Samuel Beach,
estate in 1815.   On 11Apr1817, Levi was one of thirteen subscribers that
signed the "Articles of Association of the Worthington Manufacturing Company" having
65 shares (worth $100 per share). Whether any money was actually conveyed or whether
he realized any dividends is unknown. [5]   Levi was appointed guardian of George Taylor on 13Nov1819
[6]
He built a 1 story brick home and office on the west side of Main street, probably after 1820.
It was T shaped with the head of the T having an East-West axis, the remainder
extending North. It had a basement and the floor of the building was raised to
give headroom in the cellar, requiring 4 or 5 steps to the front door.   The
building became known as "Sausage Row" some years later for some unknown reason.[3]
Levi served as the first treasurer of the city when it was incorporated in 1836
and was elected Mayor in 1841. [1]     Occupation: Blacksmith & Farmer.
