The Elder

The campfire crackled as the three sat there. Magnus looked at Morpheus. "Do you blame me?"

Morpheus looked at him. "Why would I?"

"Did I react to late? Maybe I shouldn't have thrown the knife. Maybe he wouldn't have left if I weren't so clumsy."

Morpheus smiled. "So you were a little clumsy. But it wasn't your fault he left. It was his chose and his only. He decided to go, it may have made it harder that he was injured, but it might have happened anyway. I could feel his pressure the whole way, yet I was hoping he could deal with it."

"So are we still going to face Blackwell?" Beletrix asked.

"We have to," Morpheus said. "It may be a doomed battle but at least we are going to try. Who knows, we may have the power to stop him ourselves. At least by trying we won't be left sitting around wondering how it would be if we had done something."

Beletrix smiled gently.

"Well," Morpheus said, "let's get some sleep."
