Infants Preschool School Age Special Programs
INFANT CARE
(6 weeks - 18 months)
Infant care is provided in a loving and consistent care giving environment. The toys are washed down and rotated daily to offer clean and stimulating play activities.
A schedule, offers these children structure and security. Each child is allowed to develop at their own pace and interact with other children in age-appropriate activities
PRESCHOOL
(18 months - 5 Years)
Our preschool program runs Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Our preschool program is for children three and four years of age.

The educational experiences and curriculum of our preschool program provide for the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth of each child. Teachers guide the children in exploring, discovering, and learning at their own rate. Self-esteem and positive feelings toward learning are encouraged. Music, art, physical education, and health are integral parts of our program.
SCHOOL AGE
SunShine Childcare offers a Before & After School Programs to children that attend the Public School System.
Public School
Parents provide ALL food and drinks during school vacation weeks.
Our after school program offers a variety of activities.
Students participate in arts and crafts, games, music, and group building.
Homework help is available if needed.
Kids of Character
Character traits are constantly modeled and taught at home, which is why we feel it's important to review these traits at school and incorporate social skills into the classroom. Kids of Character offers fun and meaningful ways for children to become part of a positive classroom and school community. As children develop positive character traits, they experience social successes that enable them to become more academically successful.
SPECIAL PROGRAMS
Field Trips
Throughout the year, SunShine Childcare kids go on a variety of fun and educational field trips. Some of our past field trips are below:
- Apple Picking
- The Children's Museum
- Planetarium
- Pumpkin Picking/Hayride
- Maine Wildlife Refuge
- Library
- Beach
Classroom Visitors
On occasion SunShine Childcare provides educational visitors that spend time with the children right in our centers. Some past visitors are below:
- Fire prevention classes
- Local musicians
- Dental health
- Storytellers
- Police/Firefighters
Computer Classes
A computer is provided in classrooms beginning at age three. Our computers will be upgraded as needed with a variety of age-appropriate, educational programs
Sign Language Classes
We offer as part of our weekly curriculum a basic beginner's sign language class for ages two and up.
Infant signs are used in our Infant and Toddler Rooms
Music Class
We offer music and movement class as part of our weekly curriculum an introduction to many different kinds of music and music instruments for all ages.
Summer Fun - (3 through school-age)
SunShine Childcare runs a nine or ten week summer adventure in June, July and August. The focus of the experience is the natural environment. Activities are based on field trips to many of the wonderful natural areas in Southern Maine. As the program may vary from year to year, furthur detailed information can be obtained through the office.
School Vacation Care - (4 through school-age)
For school-age children, we offer vacation care programs. We will provide a structured program of activities including art projects, special days, exciting visitors, music and outdoor play during the December, February and April vacations.
