A Buffy The Vampire Slayer tale
The Vampire rose to his feet, only to catch the last glimpse of the sole of Buffy’s boot as it slammed into his face. He fell back to the ground. He flew up to his feet again only to get the stake slammed into his heart. He burst into a mass of grey smoke. Buffy brushed herself off, and promptly walked over to help Giles to his feet.
“You okay?” She asked.
“Fine.” Giles said, grimicing as he brushed the dust off of his brown sports coat. “You had a good fight. It appears to me that you don’t really need me anymore.”
“Of course I need you. I couldn’t read half of that demon struff in your library without you. Plus you’re a hoot at parties.” Buffy replied.
“ Someday I suppose I’ll understand these things you call ‘witty comments’” Giles said as he lifted his suitcase into his car.
“So you’re going to go to that convention in Rock Springs?”
“Yes. Unfortunetly duty calls.”
“Yeah, I know the librarians have tons of responsibility that leave watching in the dust.”
“Well, I do what I have to. People can’t think me anything but the school librarian.”
“Yeah, I know.”
“Here.” Giles produced a small card. On the back was a phone number. “This is the number where you can reach me if you have need. If you need information, advice or just need to talk....”
“Right Giles. I will.” She smiled and took the card.
“Uh, Buffy, I have something for you.....” He produced a small box. “It’s sort of a thank you gift, what for saving us from the hellmount and all.”
“Thank you. That’s sweet.”
“Remember call if you have need.....”
“I will, Giles. Thank you.” She gave him a hug. “Hurry back.”
................................................... With Buffy on patrol and Willow on a study craze, Xander found he had very little to do. Feeling lonely, he decided to go the bronze in search of something to do. He walked through the door, and felt the heat and horomones cascade over him. As he went, he ran into Cordelia. He hadn’t quite expected her, but he probably should have. She did go there everynight.
“Uh, hi Cordy.” He said.
“Hi, loser.” Cordelia said.
“have a nice night.” he said as he walked off. She caught his arm.
“Wait.” She said.
“For what?” he asked.
“I dunno.” She said. He looked at her. She looked incredible in the dark red light of the club. He reached out for her hair, and then stopped himself.
“I miss you, Cordy.” He said softly.
“Xander, I.......” She looked down at the floor, then lifted her head up quickly. “I’ll see you later.” and with that she dissapeared into a crowd of people. He slowly and sadly went over to the usual spot, and was pleasently surprised. She had a dark red outfit, with long red hair with one strand lying alluringly over one eye. She had long legs that went down and into a pair of red pumps. Xander ordered two drinks from the bar and went over to her.
“Hi there.” he said cheerfully.
“Hello.” she said with a smile.
“So... do you need a personal slave?” he asked. She laughed pleasently.
“More than you know, handsome.” Her eyes bored into him, and suddenly he felt weak. Her hand went to his chest, rubbing up and down. She looked over to the cup in his hand. “is that for me?” He barely managed a nod. “My name is Lilith.” She said, grabbing the cup from his trembling hand. “And you’re my slave....?” He just stared at her, not answering. “What’s your name?”
“Xander.” he whispered.
“Nice to meet you, Xander.” She said. She snapped her fingers. he snapped out of it.
“So, do you want to go someplace?”
“Oh, by all means.” and the two got up and walked outside hand and hand.
........................................... The next night, the duo returned to the Bronze. Buffy, Willow and Oz were sitting in the usual spot, drinking and chatting amicably, when they noticed Xander and Lilith. “Who’s that he’s with?” Oz asked.
“I don’t know. I haven’t seen around school or anything.” Willow replied.
“Me neither.” Buffy added. “I don’t like the look of her.”
“He’s so pale. He looks sick.” Willow said. The trip watched as Lilith led Xander by the hand over to the bar. With a crook of her finger, Xander sat obediently next to her. As she drank from her cup, she rubbed her hand on his chest as he gazed stupidly at her with glazed eyes. “Do you think she’s a vampire?”
“No, I can sense vampires, remember?” Buffy replied.
“ A demon then?”
“Wouldn’t rule it out.”
“She smells odd.” Oz said. “It’s different. I can’t quite make it out. It smells odd. Not neccesarily bad, but......”
“I’m going to check it out.” Buffy said as she rose to her feet. She walked over to the bar where Xander was sitting with her. “Hi,Xander.”
“Um... Hi Buffy.” Xander said quietly. “Buffy, meet Lilith. Lilith, meet Buffy.”
“Hello, Buffy.” Lilith said coldly.
“Hello, Lilith.” Buffy said, just as coldly.
“C’mon, Xander. Let’s go.” Lilith said, jerking Xander to his feet. She stormed out of the building, dragging Xander along like a dog on a leash. Buffy turned on her heel and went to get Oz and Willow.
.......................................... When they left, Buffy was rather angered. “He’s gotta be under control.”
“Think so?” Oz asked.
“I just can’t get over how sick he looked.” Willow said. “He looked so low on energy.
“Okay, look.” Buffy said. “You two go to Xander’s house and talk to him. I’ll head home and call Giles and ask him what he knows about any Lilith. At least that will varify if she truly is a demon. That looks rather likely to me.”
“Right.” Oz and Willow took off, leaving Buffy to walk home alone.
Oz and Willow had been outside Xander’s house for half an hour before he returned home. He was stumbling up the stairs when he noticed the two of them standing off to the side. “What’s going on, Xander?” Oz asked.
“What do you mean?” Xander asked.
“You look so sick, Xander.” Willow said. “is it that woman?”
“So that’s it, huh, Willow?”
“You are so petty. You’re jealous. You’re just upset beacause I’m over you now and dating Lilith. It’s not my fault that you’re so unfufilling that your kiss wasn’t enough to keep my interest.”
“Hey Xander, that’s enough.” Oz said.
“Stay out of it Fido or I’ll have you nutered.” Xander said scornfully. “Y’know, Willow, I never expected you to act like this. Well, get over yourself. I don’t love you anymore, so you’ll have to accept it. You just don’t fuel my engine. You’re not enough man for me.”
“Xander, stop it.” Willow said, wiping a single tear from her eye. “You’re... you’re hurting me...”
“Oh, am I hurting you? That’s too bad! How does it feel? You hurt me so much, well now it’s my turn. So stay away. You and wonder dog have a happy time raising puppies.” and he turned and walked inside. Willow burst into tears and hugged Oz, who gently led her away.
“Lilith?!” Giles exclaimed over the reciever. “please tell me you didn’t just say Lilith.”
“Her name is Lilith and she’s doing something to Xander.” Buffy replied. “Is she a demon?”
“Only one of the most powerful and dangerous demons.” Giles answered. “Lilith was originally chronicled by many religions as the first wife of Adam.”
“Adam as in the garden of eden?”
“Precisely. She wanted equality with her husband, but of course at that point in time it was expected that women live subserviant to thier husbands. Refusing to live as Adam’s servant, she was expelled from eden forever. She was considered by some to the first vampire. She was cursed by god with wings and other various animal parts, but she still retinaed her beauty. She controlled the serpent that fed Adam and Eve the poison apple from the forbidden tree. She was dubbed queen of the demons.”
“How do I stop her?” Buffy asked.
“I don’t know. She is a particularly powerful demon. She is bound to have a wide impressive array of powers. I’d have to think...... oh yes! I think I know a way.” Giles exclaimed.
“How?” Buffy asked.
“In the library, there is a book that has in it a containment spell. It will trap a demon in a particular solid object until released. It’s very dificult to release the demon after it is placed in the object. It should work.”
“okay, thank you Giles.” Buffy said.
“Buffy, please be careful.”
“hey, you know me.” Buffy said, and she hung up the reciever after Giles had told her where the book was located.
“He was cruel, Buffy.” Willow said, wiping tears away.
“Willow, listen,” Buffy said “Xander is not himself. He’s saying things he doesnt mean. He’s under Lilith’s control.”
“Is that confirmed?” Oz asked.
“Very.” Buffy said. “Giles gave me a way to win. We need to go to the library and get ahold of a certain book. It has a spell that might work. This is how it will go. Willow, you’ll work the spell while I fight Lilith. Oz, it’ll be your job to delay Xander, beacause he’ll try to defend her.”
“Okay, let’s hit the books.”
After leaving the library with the appropriate book, they went searchin for Lilith and Xander. They didn’t have to search for long. Cordelia ran up to them. “Guys, Xander and that Lilith chick said to meet them at the warehouse on the corner of 11th and 9th. They’re acting really weird and mean.”
“Okay guys, let’s move.” Buffy said. “Cordelia, stay here.” The three walked off.
“Wait a minute, my car is still there! Wait up guys!” Cordelia said as she ran after them.
Buffy, Willow and Oz found Lilith and Xander waiting for them. Xander kneeled at Lilith’s feet, his head bowed like he was vomiting. Her hand ran through his hair as she spoke to them. “Hello, Buffy. Nice of you to join us. I’ve been enjoying your friend’s life energy. He’s so full of life. maybe I’ll do that boy next.” She gestured at Oz.
“Let him go, Lilith.” Buffy said.
“Xander, my pet, do you want to go with the bad people?” Lilith asked.
“No, Lilith.” Xander answered weakily.
“Then why don’t you kill them for me?” and with that, Xander leaped at Oz. Xanders fist connected to Oz’s face, and Oz hit the ground. Buffy leaped at Lilith with a jump kick, only to have it caught by the demoness and sending her flying to the ground.
“Willow, now!” Buffy called as she broughtn her foot around to the back of Lilith’s knee, dropping Lilith to the floor. Willow began to chant slowly. Oz charged at Xander, tackling him around the midsection. The pair tumbeled into the dust. Xander lifted Oz by his shirt collar and repededly smashed his fist into his face. Xander grabbed Oz’s head on each side and slammed it into the wooden floor several times. Oz slumped to the ground bleeding. Buffy wasn’t any where’s near good enough to defeat Lilith, and it was a fact that was becoming painfully obvious. Lilith’s enhanced strength, speed and agility left Buffy nearly defenseless as she danced around her, hitting with timed and well-placed punches and kicks. Lilith levitated into the air and flew towards her. Lilith’s foot connected to her face. Buffy hit the ground, and then started to choke as Lilith placed her boot onto Buffy’s neck.
“Xander, the girl!” Lilith called to her slave. Xander obediently went towards Willow.
“Wait, Xander.” Willow pleaded.
“Lilith wants you dead, little girl.” Xander said, an evil grin spreading across his face.
“Xander, if you want to kill me, I won’t stop you. I know you won’t. We’re friends, and there’s nothing out there stronger than our friendship.”
“is that so?”
“Yes. Think, Xander. Remember who you are! You’re my best friend. You always have been. You always will be.” a single tear went down her cheek. “please, Xander. Remember.” Xander paused for a moment. “You won’t do it, Xander. You’re stronger than that.”
Xander punched her in the face. Willow sank to the ground unconcious. He bent over her to get the book, and looked into Willow’s face. “Willow?” he whispered. He reached out and touched her cheek. “Oh, god. What have I done?” He opened the book and began to read the spell Willow had been reading.
“No, Xander, stop!” Lilith screamed. He only grinned. “I command you to stop!” Only the grin. Lilith leaped out to get to Xander. As soon as Lilith’s foot was of her throat, Buffy was instantly on her feet. She leaped onto Lilith’s back, and held on. Xander finished the spell, and Lilith dissapeared in a cloud of smoke as she screamed. The smoke entered Buffy’s gold necklace. It entered the gemstone. Buffy landed on the ground with a thud. She lifted the medallion and looked in. She could see tiny Lilith in there, screaming.
“Enjoy yourself in there, Lilith.” Buffy said. “you’re going to be in there a long time.”
The next day Xander went to school. He found Buffy, Willow and Oz sitting on the steps. “Uh... Hi guys.” Xander said.
“Hi, Xander.” Buffy said.
“Okay, I’m going to cut to the chase. I am really, really, really, really, really sorry for punching you out Oz and for betraying you, Buffy. And Willow, add a few thousand more reallys in there and maybe it’ll get close to how sorry I am. I know I said some awful stuff to you, and then I hit you, and I know there’s no way I can make it up to you, but I’ll do anything, I’ll wait on you hand and foot, I’ll do whatever you say...”
“Xander, you’re forgiven.” Willow said with a smirk.
“I’ll do anything....... what?”
“you’re forgiven. But you can still do whatever I say and wait on me hand and foot for a few days.”
“Okay. For two weeks. I deserve it. And I swear I will never again think with my lower appendages.”
“I wish I could believe that.” Buffy said. “Here, Xander. Give this to Cordelia.” She held out the medallion.
“She still likes you, Xander.” Willow said.
“Really.” He took the medallion and ran after Cordelia was up ahead.
“Are you sure it’s a good idea to give that medallion to Cordelia?” Oz asked.
“It’s the closest thing we have to hell on earth. I think that after a good amount of time hearing Cordelia gossip about boys and talk about her shoes she’ll go insane.”
