The fire was pretty high as Xander walked out of the truck, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. He stumbled over, seeing Cordy sitting alone next to the fire. "Why have we stopped?" He asked.
"I dunno." Cordy said, not looking at him. "I was just tired of driving."
"Oh." he sat down next to her.
"Xander?" She asked.
"Yeah?" She leaned against him, laying her head on his shoulder.
"I missed you." She whispered. He looked at her, listening only to the silence.
"I missed you, too. I always did." He put his arm around her.
"Xander, do you remember the old days?"
"Old days? Like Sunnydale High, and hanging out with Buffy and the rest fighting the likes of bad guys like The Master and Spike?" he asked.
"Yeah." She smiled "And...you and me?" He looked over to see a tear glisten down her cheek.
"Yeah." He smiled at her, wiping the tear away "I remember that."
"Do you remember how........?"
"How we broke up?" he asked "Yeah. There isn't a night that goes by that I don't think about it. I wanted nothing more than to square that away with you." He stroked her hair absently "I gave up after a while, but..."
"I always loved you. Even after that. I always loved you."
"You.....you did?" he asked."Yeah. I always did."
"Why didn't you ever tell me?" he asked her.
"I wanted to hate you. I wished I did. I cried nearly everynight for months afterward. Then I stopped crying but still felt this pain in my stomach....." She gave a small laugh "Like you want to hear about all that...."
"Actually, it sounds like me. But I still feel that pain in my stomach."
"Me,too." They stared into each others' eyes for a moment.
"I still love you." he said.
"I..." She looked into his eyes "Love you, too." She looked at him, smiling prettily "Want to...y'know....for old times sake?"
"I..." he grinned sheepishly "Actually, I do." She stood up and unzipped her pants.
Willow and Spike pulled onto shore in the middle of the night. The moon was full and shining on the water. They walked towards a large jungle like area. "You're sure that this is the place?" he asked, looking around. "There doesn't seem to be anyone here."
"How do you think we hide from Harvest?" She asked, leading him up the beach. "This is the place. My magic led me back." The pair walked into the jungle and found a small shack. There were numerous objects lying in the mud around it. The door was kicked in, and the windows shattered.
"Cor, is it supposed to look like this, Red?" He asked. She was pale as a ghost. "Red?"
"What happened......?" She ran into the cabin, screaming numerous names. The only one he recognized was Amy's. He followed her in, his duster blowing around him. He found her in the center of the cabin, on her knees with her face buried in her hands. He knelt beside her and put an arm around her. She turned towards him. "It's all so useless, Spike!" She screamed, hitting him in the shoulders with her fists "What are we going to do? How can we beat Harvest? It's all so fucking hopeless." She continued to cry as she buried her face in his neck. He stroked her hair, making soothing sounds. "What are we going to do?" She said, moaning like a wounded animal.
"I dunno, Will" he said "But we'll think o' somethin'." He sniffed the air. "I...........I smell somethin'." He got up, moving outside. He walked around, sniffing the air. Willow followed, wiping the tears from her eyes. He walked into the jungle and grabbed a hold of a large boulder. He strained, the veins in his neck bulging as he lifted it. He tossed it aside and on the ground. Beneath it was a cave. He walked down into it, Willow following close behind, tingling with excitment. "'Ello?" He called. He walked into a large cavern.
"Hello?" Came the reply. Willow pushed past him.
"Willow?" Willow raced into the cavern and wrapped her arms around her friend. Amy looked over. "Oh, you found Spike?" She asked. Spike stood alone at the opening of the cavern, looking over at them. She motioned for him to enter. He walked over towards the two Witches. "Hello, Spike." She said.
"Hi." He said.
"How are you?" She asked.
"Can we hurry up and find that sword?" he asked.
"Right." She nodded, walking over to a large circular area with candles surrounding the outskirts. "Harvest and his men attacked, and those who were able escaped to this cavern. The rest have all fled, but I waited. I knew you would return, Willow." She sat down, crossing her legs indian style. "I figured we could try to astral plain. Between the energies of two sorceres' and a vampire we should be able to find the energy of the sword..."
"Yeah!" Willow said "I thought about that,too..."
"Yeah, yeah, great." Spike said "Let's hurry up and do this. We have a world to save."
