Robert Ackerman Palmer, Alaska Jason - I was just re-listening to your CD "Hank and My Honky Tonk Heroes" and it came over me that your singing on this CD is absolutely the best I have heard you do (including your TV appearances and your other CDs). It is sad that this CD is only available at your Branson shows - and I hope it is soon marketed and available for sale to Hank fans all over the world. You don't just honor Hank but you certainly do pay an appropriate tribute to the other Honky Tonk Heroes. Of course the music is enhanced with your very special guess Don Helms on the Hank songs. I'm sure the Lost Highway Show is lost without you in it ! (and I don't mean that just to be some semi-clever statement) Your friend and your fan, Robert A. EDITOR'S NOTE JASON PETTY DOES NOT FEEL THAT THE 'LOST HIGHWAY SHOW IS LOST WITHOUT HIM' BELOW IS A RECENT POSTING OF JASON'S ON THE ALABAMA TALK LINE @ URL: http://pub3.bravenet.com/forum/243824250/fetch/369835/ _____________________________________________________________________________ Subject: Addendum to 'no steel' Name: Jason Petty Date Posted: Aug 23, 04 - 11:23 PM Email: Hanksback@aol.com Website: http://www.JasonPetty.com Message: After hearing the news about there not being a steel in the show, I got in touch with Van, the lead...who was also my understudy in NY, and he assures me that there is a steel in the show....just not mentioned in the article. WHEW!!! Van is a great actor and singer and I feel very good about leaving the role in his hands. After 8-10 years, its somebody else's role now. I still honor Hank in my Branson, MO show.. I know if I get a chance I will definitely go to his show (Thanks Jason) ! Robert A. ----- Original Message ----- From: Jason Petty To: Hank1@mtaonline.net Sent: Thursday, February 26, 2004 2:53 PM Subject: Re: "on the road again" ? Robert, Lost Highway is looking at the possibility of hitting the road again in 2005, but that isn't a sure thing. In the meantime, I am taking my Hank tribute show that has played Atlantic City, Las Vegas and a US tour to Branson, MO for the 2004 season. We open the show, titled "Hank and my Honky Tonk Heroes" on April 13, 2004, and close the season on Dec. 11, 2004. We are at the Moe Bandy Theatre (formerly the Majestic Theatre) and anyone interested in tickets can call toll free 1-800-289-5775. This show has gotten great reviews all over the country. It's basically a trip through the history of country with emphasis on Hank Williams' life and career. It takes a look at at those who influenced Hank and then those artists who came after Hank that he had an influence on. It gives me a chance to relate the personal stories of Hank that I have gathered over the last 10 years from Hank's friends, family and band members. We have a live four-piece band backing me and we will play the old school country way.....NO DRUMMER! Ha! Just like ol' Hank wouldda done. We are very excited to be in Branson and letting the world see what they missed in New York and Nashville. Our show times are 2 pm daily except Mondays. That's all I have for now. Hope all is well with you. Take care, Jason Petty _____________________________________________________________________________ ATTENTION HANK FANS - I received the copy of the 2003 "Hank Williams Lost Highway" ("original cast recording") in the mail today and played it immediately...Jason Petty and his show group do a wonderful job....(and Jason didn't ask me what I thought of it).... but a lot of words and thoughts came into my mind right away...... "I thought I was at the live New York Show"......"unique recordings" ......."Broadway-style is certainly a different and very nice approach to doing Hank's songs [and the CD includes Tee-Tot, some narrative and more - and there are 25 tracks in all]"........and I could go on.... but maybe I should hush and just say it is FANTASTIC....I have many hundreds of tribute and cover albums - and most of them are great - BUT really only a small hand full stand out....and this is sure one of them.....and it rates right up there with the tributes and cover songs of Jim Murphy, Rattlesnake Annie, or Dustin Hunt. And of course I am leaving out about another ten I should list..... Check out http://www.FynsworthAlley.com for a great Jason Petty interview and to order the CD and http://www.hankwilliamslosthighway.com for some more info !!!! I haven't received any new information lately on where the show will be shown on the road next....but will let you know if I hear any more. The CD sure makes me want to see the road show ! Any chance we'll see it in Tennessee when we are there next month? Robert Ackerman Palmer, Alaska August 24, 2003 p.s. This CD shouldn't be confused with the "Lost Highway - The Music and Legend of Hank Williams" by Jason Petty in 1996 - which is quite good too - but no match for the new one ! _____________________________________________________________________________ UPDATE: September 02, 2003 ATTENTION HANK FANS - The following "testimony" certainly reinforces what I thought about the CD....THANKS MUCH BAILEY - I couldn't say it any better and I know Jason Petty is proud ! Robert A. Dear Robert: I told you I would critique the 'Hank Williams Lost Highway' CD after I got it and listen to it. OH MY GOD. It is an absolute must for any Hank fan. I really enjoyed the sessions with Tee-Tot more than anything else on the album. This was done so well. The sessions with his mother were enlightening and the lady that sung of Audrey sounded and sang much better than she ever did. It is like they filled in a void that I did not reach in the books and others albums. I listen to this CD almost every day. Thank you Robert for bringing this album to my attention and telling me where I could purchase it.
