The Festival went great. The crowd seemed to be up from last year. We had some really great traditional country music. Wish you could have been there Robert. WISE President Hank Williams International Fan Club 122 Woody Road Jackson, GA 30233 March 31, 2011 Dear Board Members (Family), After much thought the last few months, I have decided it is time for me to step down as your president and turn the reigns over to someone else. I have several reasons for my decision as explained below. 1. My health has not been good for several years and it seems to get worse each year. A few weeks ago I was in the hospital with a severe lung infection and last year I was stricken with a severe case of pneumonia. I have not completely recovered from it yet. This last trip to the hospital has set me back in my recovery a few more months. I also suffer from severe diabetes that requires me to have 5 shots of insulin a day. As you can see my freedom is somewhat limited. I also suffer from high blood pressure, COPD, and emphysema and arthritis. My energy level is low and the arthritis causes me a great deal of pain. Climbing steps and getting in and out of cars are a struggle. Physical labor is now almost impossible due to weakness and pain. 2. When I came to the club as vice-president 6 years ago, my intention was to stay Three years. You board members asked me to stay another year. When our beloved President Mary Wallace passed away suddenly, I was thrust into the Presidency. I felt I owed the club enough time to recover from the shock so I stayed another year as president. It is now time for new leadership. Someone with new ideas and vision. I think every one of you is capable of holding office in the club. I know you will pick a fine replacement. 3. When I took the job as vice-president and president, I had set goals to help the club succeed. Although I didn’t succeed in every thing I set out to do, I am very proud of my service. I thank you board members for helping me do it. It is my desire to remain on the board of directors and contribute what I can. I feel I can be of some service in some fashion. Although my physical strength is gone, I will do whatever I can to help ya’ll succeed. I want my successor to know he/she will have my full support and cooperation as long as I am a board member. May God Bless and guide you. My last act as President will be to call for an early election during the April meeting. This will allow new officers to be placed in their position prior to the festival and be ready for the CMA fest. If the new President desires, I suggest we not have a meeting directly after the festival. The meeting in April will serve as the annual meeting. I look forward to serving the club in a new capacity, and I wish you all good health and wisdom provided by our Lord. Sincerely John R. Wise, President Robert, You have my permission to post this letter. Everthing is ok with the club. I don't believe in staying to long in these positions. You need new ideas and new blood to grow. John moved to the Presidency upon the untimely death of Mary Wallace. John Wise _____________________________________________________________________________ Update Dec 21, 2009 R.I.P Mary Wallace - President of the Hank Williams International Fan Club From: John Wise To: Robert HANK Ackerman Sent: Monday, December 21, 2009 1:06 PM Subject: Re: SHOCKING NEWS... MARY WALLACE IS DEAD Robert, It is true that Mary has passed on. She accidentally shot herself while cleaning up to receive a new washer and dryer. Funeral arrangements have not been made other than she will be cremated. With her death, I will automatically assume the President's chair. I will need all the prayers you can spare to help me meet this great challenge. Mary lived and breathed Hank Williams. I just hope I can meet everone's expectations. Mary, we will miss you very much. I hope you will ask God to guide me as I take the raines of this prestegious club. I will pass on any information as I receive it. It may take several weeks to get it fine tuned. Please be patient. Coming soon is a guest book, music, about us, pictures, merchandise pages, etc. Thanks to Tom Lipscombe and Robert Ackerman and friends for keeping a temporary web site available and updated. We needed that. An additional item is that the Fan Club President Mary Wallace has a new e-mail address... but it doesn't seem to be working yet - please do check back at mjwallace@camelliacom.com for contact with Mary. In the meantime if you are trying to contact Mary or have other questions or comments relating to the fan club do e-mail John Wise at johnr749@bellsouth.net _____________________________________________________________________________ OCTOBER 16, 2006 UPDATE ATTENTION HANK/COUNTRY MUSIC FANS - It is not too early to start your travel plans for a trip to Georgiana for the June 2007 Hank Festival (starting on the first Friday of June 2007). I'm sure we will be hearing much more on the subject in the coming months, but the following is some interim information received from the Hank fan club vice president John Wise (Thanks John). Robert Ackerman Palmer, Alaska Honorary/Lifetime Member of the Hank Williams International Fan Club p.s. The Hank fan club web site is still temporarily at www.hanksrfanclub.has.it pp.ss. And did all of you that are members of the fan club already receive the May-August 2006 fan club newsletter? If not please let John or I know. ppp.sss. And why aren't you a member of the fan club? (see the above web site for info on joining) ----- Original Message ----- From: HWIFC To: "Robert Ackerman" Sent: Saturday, October 14, 2006 6:05 AM We are planning a show on Friday Night of the 2007 festival. It will be held after the main acts are completed on the main stage. We will start about 30 minutes after the main show. We are hoping to draw a good crowd. We are going to charge $5.00 a person in hopes of making some money for the club. We are working with Mr. Simms (owner) of the Theater. Our plan is to run it like the Grand O'le Opry with 30 minute slots per entertainer. The entertainers are tentatively set, but I will not reveal who they are just yet. I know Terry Smith and Charley Groth have indicated they want to do it. Terry is the writer of the classic song "Far Side Banks of Jordan". All of this is in the planning stages and subject to change. We appreciated all the support we get from you and the fans. John Wise
