Now, they bring their figural mastery to "Graceland", and have achieved with sculptor Tom Blackmore a quality rarely exhibited in celebrity reincarnations. ___________________________________________________________________________ Thomas Blackmore has been in the art world’s medium of sculpture for over 20 years. The demands for his talents are strong and we are very fortunate to have access to him, thanks to a long personal relationship that we share. ___________________________________________________________________________ PRODUCT INFORMATION ___________________________________________________________________________ 'COLD CAST PORCELAIN' ___________________________________________________________________________ This figurine is made from a material known as poly-resin. Poly-resin is a product that combines clay like materials and petroleum based materials to allow a finished product to become solid without any heating process. The process involves producing an original sculpture out of wax, and then using a method known as the lost wax process. The wax sculpture is placed inside a high quality silicone composite (Some companies do not use silicone because of its cost. They will use a lower quality rubber mold, which reduces the transfer of quality into the finished product. We only use silicone for our molds.). The wax figure is then melted into the silicone creating a master mold. Now that a master has been produced, we will pour in our poly-resin materials for production of the first true master figurine (This poly-resin is slightly lighter and has some small difference in qualities then the finished product. The finished product will have slightly more weight and it will be more durable.). Two true masters will be produced, one painted as a reference for painting standards and the other, a white blank as it is called, to produce additional molds from silicone. ___________________________________________________________________________ The poly-resin we use to produce figurines is a composite using clay like materials, petroleum based materials, and a minimum mixture of 10% calcium powder, which is the main powder used to make heat-fired porcelain products. This composite ensures that our figurines are consistent in quality, feel, and accept the painting without any problems. This process increases the costs, but it is an investment in quality that we are committed to. ___________________________________________________________________________ The manufacturing of products that are cold cast (porcelain is a heat fired process), combined with the calcium powder has led us to use the adjective 'cold cast porcelain' when describing our products to industry insiders. Many of the materials in our poly-resin are the same as those in porcelain. The curing process is different. Cold cast products actually allow for more detail in finished structure (the folds and creases in the original can be transferred in a cold cast process, but are melted away in a heat-fired process), plus you can apply the paint onto the product giving it that 'life like' look. Cold cast products are also more durable in shipping and handling. The material, because of its petroleum composite, has some flexibility. It is still breakable, but nowhere near the extent a heat-fired product is. ___________________________________________________________________________ Our drive to produce only quality pieces of art has enabled us to make some of the most beautiful figurines ever.
