Welcome!

At Country Crafts of Maine we take pride in our craftsmanship. There is something very special about taking a piece of wood and turning it into something even more beautiful. We get great pleasure in seeing the look on our customers' faces when they purchase one of our products. All of our products are hand made, not laser cut or mass-produced and because of this no two products are exactly alike.

We offer gifts for the home or office use, and feel that they make excellent gifts. Our clocks are showcase worthy and are sure to become a family heirloom in years to come.

We hope you enjoy our products as much as we have enjoyed making them for you.

From this page you can see all the things we offer at a glance.  Listed below are the various products that we make and links to pages for you to view pictures of the products.

FRETWORK is considered fine scroll-saw work and excludes traditional marquetry and inlaying techniques. This type of wood work primarily involves sawing many inside openings to create ornamental or grill-like objects. Basic fretwork techniques and recognizable special tools can be traced back to the early 1700's and have not changed much since then. Fretwork overlays have been found in Egyptian tombs from 3000 years ago. Fretwork designs were often incorporated into the furniture designs of Duncan Phyfe, Thomas Chippendale and others.
