Purpose:

As sisters, in the Relief Society, we are working to help women and their families "come unto Christ."

We are each striving to gain greater faith in our Heavenly Father and to build our individual testimonies of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Within the Relief Society, we come to understand our own divine worth as daughters of God as we develop a personal relationship with our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ. As sisters we have each committed to come unto Christ.
(2 Nephi 31 :20-21; Omni 1 :26)

"Charity never Faileth"; it is through service that we perfect the 'Pure love of Christ" that is within each of us. Through giving compassionate service to those in need, Relief Society sisters provide a support system for individuals and families. This selfless service within a loving sisterhood brings both temporal and spiritual blessings while contributing to the perfecting of the Saints.
(Moron 7:46-48; Mosiah 4:26)

We are each working to help strengthen the families of the Church and to develop Christ centered homes. In Relief Society we, as sisters, are taught the eternal nature of the family and are encouraged to participate in family history and temple work. Sisters help each other in developing the talents and skills needed to manage the home and family. "Home can be a Heaven on Earth"(D&C 130:22; Mosiah 4:14-15)

As sisters we sustain the priesthood working together in a united effort to help all receive the ordinances of the gospel and enter into the covenants of the temple. Relief Society help each sister fully understand the purposes and functions of the priesthood. Thus, each sister and her family can receive blessings that come through the priesthood.
(D&C 84:35-39; D&C 66:2)
