Many people have asked me what my religious beliefs are… and that for me is a hard question. In childhood I never really followed any religion, both my parents were brought up hard-core Protestants and their families made them go to church with them every Sunday. Although they both still very much believe in God they don’t go to church anymore, and they never pushed any religion upon us. I’m grateful for that because now it gives me the opportunity to find out what I believe in on my own without being pushed into a religion just because my parents happen to be a part of it.
For the better part of my life I didn’t know what to believe in, I’ve always believed that there is a higher power, but I wasn’t sure just what that higher power was. Many of my friends know that I don’t go to church and that I don’t believe in organized religion. They also know that even though I believe in the possibility of God I don’t think that he would want us to go to a church every Sunday to vanquish any sins that we’ve cast upon ourselves to merely get into heaven. I think that if there is a God he would want us to believe in him regardless of what day it is, and that going to church isn’t all that necessary! Really in the way most people think I'm not very religious at all... but one thing I do try to do is to never judge people and to just try to lead my own life!
What I’m telling all of you is that you have to find what you believe in and stick with it, whatever that religion or belief might be. I’m working on a list of religions, and eventually I’m going to have a short description of each, telling of how they first started, and the beliefs that they hold. In a short while you will see a list that I’ve gotten together so far… if I’ve missed a religion you think should be mentioned please let me know! The same goes if you have any information to put forth about a religion. I would seriously love to learn more about any of them just because it’s been kind of a hobby of mine!
