Verbals

 

Verbals – are verb forms that are used for other purposes. In English there are three types of verbals: participles, gerunds, and infinitives.

 

Verbals are formed from the principal parts of a verb.

 

Present                Sing (adding the word to makes to sing – an infinitive)

 

Present Participle  Singing (this is both the form of the present participle and gerund)

 

Past                     Sang

 

Past Participle       Sung (this is the form for the past participle)

 

 

Each form will be considered separately
